DNECL 2022

Philli got promoted as the NTSCL couldn't or didn't want to be promoted either. As I said though feel for them as Club Mark has been closed for two years and only recently opened and wasn't advertise by the DCB
Incorrect. That season, Philli and Lanchester both got promoted to NEPL.
Brandon, on admission, were given a season to get Clubmark and failed to do so. NEPL gave them ANOTHER season and Durham Cricket Board offered assistance to complete it. They failed AGAIN and were relegated.
Just get the Clubmark and get promoted.

Tbh I know a couple of the Brandon lads and they reckon the club deliberately let clubmark expire, reckoned they didn’t want the burden of having to operate as an NEPL outfit.

I find it hard to believe that a club the size of Brandon couldn't get it sorted in time. We've (Hunwick) just had our accreditation renewed in the last few weeks*

* That isn't a "Oh look at us - look how good we are" comment btw. It's just to show that if it's important to you - then you put the time into getting it done.

Sad if true.
I've just heard something similar and we were notified by Durham Cricket Board well in advance that it needed doing so not sure I believe the 'admin error' line either.

Nevermind - it's their decision at the end of the day.

Wasn’t it over 4 years ago or something since they got chucked out for not having it? Definitely more to it than supposed admin errors.

It’s fair enough if Brandon don’t want to progress to NEPL but it’s grossly unfair if it’s at the expense of a club who’s members have flogged their guts out to get clubmark, yet can’t get promoted as they can’t afford a GM etc and finish second behind Brandon.

Like a said before Brandon is a good club but at the minute they are just stifling the DNECL

It doesn’t say much for administrative side of the club if clubmark couldn’t be organised.

I agree.

First I’ve heard of it, seems odd given how hard they’ve worked to get back - unless you’re suggesting they’ve intentionally let it slide again and it’s all just a front?

The only mitigation I can see here*, is that it was a fairly small window time wise and not very well advertised.

*Going off what people have already said about it earlier on this thread.

How well in advance? Out of interest.

I was told that Philli were told in February that their Clubmark needed renewing. I believe that they completed it in June.
If a club is serious about promotion then they will get Clubmark, it is not difficult and Durham Cricket Board staff will assist.
Be honest with your club and if you want to stay in DNECL then that is fine. The only worry is that some of your players may be tempted to try the NEPL or NYSD.
Good luck to Brandon Cricket Club whatever decision they make.

I dont know specifically but put it this way - we were initially informed that we needed to do it (we didn't because it sat in somebodies inbox 🤣), but then Durham Cricket Board got in contact with us again to give us a kick up the backside and we got it done soon after.

Has anyone noted the amount of 15/15 games being conceded. Not good. That said if they moved them to a Wednesday night I think many would look at the games as a mid week practice and more matches played.

They can’t people on the pitch never mind I’m the bar, ridiculous the amount of conceded games
we all know cup tie cricket was amazing from 70s-90s, but im sure if they give mid week games ago they will be far more popular. Regardless of your age everyone likes either a Friday or Saturday night free to go out.

Who wants to play a dead rubber though? that was the main issue why teams conceeded games this week and there was loads of them tbf.

This is the issue with a league format in a cup competition at amateur level particularly with it being on a friday night and also some teams having to cover some good miles to get to these games.

Teams conceding if they’ve got nowt to play for. Should be fined probably or don’t enter the competition.
