  1. Aye, go with a big company though, I landed and the car didn't exist

I went to Dubrovnik two years ago and it's one of the best looking places I've ever seen, absolutely stunning. Stayed just outside in Orasaac which was nice and quiet but only ten minutes in the car to Dubrovnik old town, so had the best of both worlds.

Think I'd be doing it in person in the country, like. Wherever we land we will spend a few days, I reckon, so could sort it there.

As I mentioned earlier Dubrovnik does get rammed with cruise ship tourists but most of the ships tend to leave around 2pm so late afternoon is much quieter.

  5. Atlaschoice were the ones who let me down, just looked them up and they sadly went bust

You have to drive through a bit of Bosnia to get to Dubrovnik but it's nowt to worry about, no fees or anything required

Wouldn't bother me in the slightest. Anything Bosnian worth checking out on the way through?

I really liked it, the war museum is a fascinating, if somewhat partisan window into a fairly recent and horrific past. Food was fantastic everywhere we went and the people lovely.

If you're flying into Split, as you say, I'd highly recommend getting the ferry to Brac &/or Hvar. As mentioned earlier, 2 fantastic islands, which have to be seen to be believed. Fabulous, fabulous places. I was there 10 years ago & I would imagine the landscape is pretty much the same. Zadar is brilliant as well.

I was in Tisno 2 years ago but that was at a music festival, so didn't really see much of the place.

There's a bit of graffiti etched into one of the walls with "SMB" I noticed.
    Have a photo somewhere.

Generally the further South you go the prettier it is and the much more reliable the weather.

Used to be cheap as chips before the troubles, but not so much now with the German influx pushing the prices up.

Visited Mostar with the wife and bairns long before the troubles.
Great place with a nice atmosphere back then.

Lots of locals jump off the bridge, it’s a bit of a macho thing.

The legend goes that the bloke who designed it committed suicide the day before it opened cos he thought it would collapse. It eventuallly took explosives and heavy shell fire to knock it down.
Good to see it’s back again.

Another vote for the Dalmatian islands just off the coast of split. Brac , Vis & Hvar are all stunning and there’s a great network of cheap ferries linking em.

  20. We are currently on a driving tour of Croatia.

We drove down via Bruges, Cologne, Munich, Lake Bled and Ljubljana.

So far we've visited Porec, Pula, Rovinj, Rijeka, Zadar, Ugljan, Medulin, Sukosan.

We are off to Pag today and drive down to Split tomorrow.

Makarska, Dubrovnik, Kotor, Plitvice Lakes and Zagreb still to do.

    We love Croatia!
