CC Durham v Northants

Close: 209-7
Raine 75*
Carse 47*

Partnership stands at 128.

Excellent effort from these two to build a recovery, it’s still a very slim total, but it’s a huge swing of momentum from 81-7. If we can add a further 50 tomorrow morning I’ll feel genuinely confident of a first innings lead - weather from here looks poor, but certainly if it’s cloudy and damp I’m sure we’d rather be bowling than batting.

Being optimistic, we should see a decent chunk of play tomorrow - but realistically the long term outlook for Days 3 & 4 suggests no play. Hopefully the rain comes overnight between tomorrow and Wednesday in one big dump.

We’ll see.

Guessing it’s in reply to your comment on page one stating Raine averages only 20 in his career.

Very well batted though, great recovery. I had the wicket notifications set up on my phone and thought they must have packed in until I clicked onto the app to check the score 10 minutes ago
What I said was just facts though what's the point in having a poke at me when he gets one good score I hope he smashed a hundred like we all do

Commentators were saying rain had got under the covers, presumably Saturday - at the end where the wickets fell. Second match in a row going on what a Derby player was reported as saying last week.

One of the Stanley lads was saying from his vantage point you could see the patch on the wicket this morning and Sanderson took full advantage.

Nathan Buck was fielding on the boundary and,in between being serenaded by his Durham Uni fan club, said that Northants have being getting into great positions when bowling all season then letting the opposition off the hook......good job we never let that happen here right kids?

Well done Raine and Carse. It wasnt pretty but it was effective.

First post. So hello to everyone. Took retirement last year, love cricket, coming from Carlisle, and at the time, we’re thinking who do we follow, Lancashire or Durham. (Seems like sacrilege now). Trip down the M6 or the A69, Durham was the decision and the best I made. One of the best days cricket last week. Great to see the recovery today, but we always seem to be 14 for 3, 60 for 5. Why — shit batsmen, shit pitch or shit rules that mean we’re always put in.

They let Sussex put on 309 for the 7th wicket the other week - from 68-6

Looks like we might just get lucky with where the rain reaches. If it’s dry at 10.30 think I’ll head down with padded trousers and warm anorak, and feed the car park in 2 hour chunks.

With this wind I may avoid the upper tier!

You may well be right. There's a stiff North Easterly wind in CLS but it's dry.

So let's get a quick 50 runs this morning then bowl them out twice today under cloud cover....nowt to it really.:D

Since I checked the weather apps an hour ago the % chance of rain has been revised downwards to around 10% up till about 6pm.

It’s possible we may get a full days play
