Bilbao Black Cats / Athletic Club Bilbao

Just got back from Bilboa. Currently exhibiting possibly the best vintage car collection in the world at Guggenheim museum. Well worth a couple of hours out of your day.

Athletic as a club seem to have an appreciation of football history in general…..they recognise what is going on in the wider football world and ….iirc ( @aupaalaves correct me if im wrong ) often award or champion players from other sides for reasons not just of a football nature eg players who spend their whole career at one club
Why did they play they beheaders then, if they recognise the wider football world? Surely they should have never played them.

Norman Foster exhibition isn't it? Haven't been but heard it's good

Newly elected president trying to score brownie points with the "socios' to get off on the right foot. This guy seems to be a bit different to previous presidents

The Enguitas? Cannit think of many other East End families with Spanish/Basque sounding names.
When I went to Redhouse Comp in the 1970's there was a girl in my year who's family were Basque, her parents families came to England as kids along with many others during/after the Spanish Civil War. I can't remember her name though.

Nell Badsey adopted one of the boys, Angel Perez Martinez – as Angel Badsey he worked until his retirement in the Sunderland shipyards.

This could have been it, I always assumed her parents who arrived here as children came with their parents but maybe they came alone as part of the 3,840 on that ship.

Me and my daughter representing the Bilbao Black Cats branch last Saturday.

I'm coming back over for the Millwall game on 10th September.

I'm putting in place plans to bring a decent number of Bilbao Black Cats members over for the West Brom home game in December. Hope it doesn't get moved to the Sunday to be live on Sky.

Alirón and Haway the lads!

Totally up for it! I have the Bilbao jersey each season because of the colours and know of the north east connections as times passed. On another but similar topic, I have started to gather Sunderland fans in East Lothian (from Roker but liver near Dunbar, dame dot council crew in the old days). There’s a few of us like!

In the 1980's I worked on the Torness nuclear power station and most of the Scottish site lads I worked with were from Dunbar - took a few of them to games at Roker - sound bunch.

Sadly, we have to change the logo design of the branch as the Guggenheim museum has rejected our request to use a silhouette of it.

Didn't even get given an explanation for it either. Poor professionalism from them in their form of communication.

Anyway, we should have a replacement for the Guggenheim museum soon.
For anyone who wants to have a vote on their preference for the replacement ship for the Bilbao Black Cats logo, here's the link:
