Even the name is abhorrent.

In a region like ours it clearly should be called North East or Tyne and Wear.
As long as it has that stupid name it will always be open to criticism. The excuses the BBC give that they cant change the name are pathetic.

It needs to change.
We're in Division 3. Ultimately we won't get the same coverage as a Premier League team, locally or Nationally.
When the boot was on the other foot and we ere above the mags in the leagues the local BBC went out their way to make sure there was 'equal' coverage of the two clubs.

It should be the case now.

Steady half empty is still half empty. I can see that it is irritating for some but isn't there always a way around it?

Anyway isn't the real problem here is that the club has been allowed to sleepwalk into league one and then get comfortable there. If you want to have a go at someone/something then take it out on whoever owns the club. Watching your fall from the premiership was funny at first but it is now beyond a joke. I love and hate derby days with a passion. Currently there's only one club to blame for the lack of a premiership derby game in the North East and that's you lot. It's about time you got your finger out and sorted it.
Didn't realise our ground held over 60k like.

Get lost man . Coming on here giving us lectures while your clubs soakes in blood money.

If the shoe was on the other foot there’d be uproar
You are right hank there would be hell on. Although I'd think we'd kick up more a fuss about why the club was floundering in the third tier. I think I get more riled by your state than some of your fans.

I think some are still a bit delusional. We are 3rd division plodders at the minute, we won't get the coverage and rightly so.
Didn’t happen in 80s when we were in 3rd Division and Newcastle in top flight. Coverage is supposed to be equal - they broadcast for the licence payers of Wearside & Durham area as well as Tyneside.

The boot was never on the other foot. Newcastle spent 1 season sat top of the championship. That is nothing like our situation, where we've spent the last 76 seasons piddling around in the 3rd division playoffs.

More licence payers in the NE have no interest in football so perhaps there interests supersede yours.
KLD takeover = 2 minutes middle of show
Saudi torturers = full programme *

* as well as hours upon hours leading up to it over a year or so.
KLD = ?
Saudi = controversy.

No surprise one was of more interest than the other.

There are 22 other hours in the day for their interests.

While I agree with the basic truth in your comments this should not allow local media to be anything other than impartial in its coverage of the area and its sport. Sunderland is the 2nd most populated city in the area and contains the oldest of the big footballing clubs in the area which still draws a substantial support no matter how far it has fallen. This should demand respect not ridicule but of course in a world where working people think "as long as my pile of shit is bigger than your pile shit then I'm better than you" then our area will continue to suffer. Add to this the black hole for investment Blair created in the 80's/90's and you can see why Sunderlands development has fallen so far behind. I used to despise Sunderland City Council for its lack fore thought, cheapness and ability to let any architect dump whatever piece of shit they could think of on us. However I now realise that it's being the lack of investment as well as poor management that has brought our city to where it is today. Personally always hope for a better day in all aspects of my life so with new development on the up in the city centre let's hope its the start of the long over due revamping of our city which will breath new life and investment into the old gal. HTL FTM.
Black hole Blair created in the 80s and 90s? Can you explain this?
