Away tickets - Loyalty points . . .

There’s no perfect system. There’ll always be winners and losers. Current one is the fairest. Anyone going on about “the next generation” They’ll survive I’m sure.

Well six of us were down at one match a couple of years ago. I'm was the only STH with nowhere near enough points.

The other five non STH.

All six of us there and sat together.

Work it out.
1st division and championship games were paper tickets. Was easy done then.
Not now

Until we know what the spread of points is, we can only guess what points would be reasonable for each phase.

If there was to be a ballot, maybe have a % of tickets for the non high profile games, and only when the full 3000 are available.

There will be no method that everyone will agree on anyway.

I was in the one and only ballot we ran for Portsmouth away - went so well that everyone who applied got a ticket (and tickets went back to Portsmouth iirc showing the ballot was pointless in the first place)

I really should stop getting involved in these threads as its the same things over and over again

Expect to see them all rehashed again next week when Leeds goes on sale which everyone will fancy when it's an hour and half down the road but a six hour trip to Swansea in December last year was radio silence
"One and only" ballot? 🤔 We got a ticket in the Luton ballot in the Championship 😀.

A ballot will only increase the selling of away tickets on Facebook imo.

For example Brighton away on a Tuesday night in February, 600 tickets (20%) available in the ballot. 25k apply in the hope of being successful and therefore gaining a BCP. Someone on say 29 points is successful, history suggests they’re unlikely to attend as it’s not a glamour game so they’ll try and sell their ticket on to keep the BCP and they’ll potentially move in to phase 2 for the mags so they’ve achieved what they want without attending the Brighton game and a non season ticket holder has potentially been able to attend at Brighton as opposed to someone on say 40 points.

A ballot also significantly increases travel and accommodation costs for those who would almost certainly be guaranteed a ticket historically as they’d have to wait until the result of the ballot before booking travel and accommodation etc.

For the mags for example 500 (20%) tickets in a ballot, let’s say 500 people on 0-9 points are successful that means that 500 fans on say 30 points miss out on this game despite having done best part of 10 away games per season. We’re almost certain that 31k of season ticket holders fall into the 0-9 poiyns bracket given the Everton FA cup ticket phases.

A ballot also increases the risk of trouble as those on 0 points for example are less likely to be concerned about losing their season ticket due to causing trouble at an away game as they’re more likely to be a new season ticket holder, this could have greater implications for phase 1 fans as there could be reduced away allocations imposed by SAG in the future.

Ballots being suggested for fans under 18 for example, how would that work for someone aged 10 for example as at virtually every game a condition is that all under 14s must be accompanied by an adult. If the 10 year old is successful in the ballot, does their parents who’ve also got 0 points automatically get allocated a ticket as they’d need to accompany the child to adhere to the terms and conditions of entry?

50% of allocated amount to STH with 70+ (65/60 could be set at whatever level) points. 50% plus anything leftover from above phase into a ballot system STH only with a deadline to enter the ballot.

Mate of mine is a Man Utd STH and this is along the same lines as what they do. Out of the ballot this season hes had City, Spurs and Arsenal. Usually get between 15k and 20k in the ballot per game.

And whoever makes the point 'wasn't like this in League 1' spare a thought for those that did the hard yards in L1 but lost a load of loyalty points in the 3 season cull at the beginning of this season. There'll be a few who did the undesirable aways in L1 who've got no chance of a PL away game under the current system.

So people with 50 points to into a ballot with people with 1 point ? Or am I being thick here

Why would they have done the undesirable games on league 1 then stopped going when we got to the championship?

From a purely selfish view, for the mags games and other high profile games, I agree points between phases should be lower. I'm on 64 and can see mags game starting on 65. Means I'll have same chance as someone on quite a few less points. On the other hand, my son is stuck on 9 points and has no chance building his own without home cup games etc. Never keep everyone happy.

Me too! Had loads of points at the time, but not enough for the ordinary Luton ticket phases. As it was a ground I hadn't been to, I loved the ballot at the time - but of course not so much now as any future ballots could reduce my chances of away tickets (currently on 60+ pts and managed a Bournemouth ticket yesterday).

The fact is, quite naturally, people will support any system that benefits them at the time - like me and the Luton ballot.

Vast majority do and it would make negligible difference to away phases. I’d suggest 99% of phase 1/2 point holders will attend every home game so it wouldn’t help at all
What’s weird with this is on one hand, we say 99% of phase 1/2 point holders attend every home game yet on other threads, these same people always seem to be having “last minute” illnesses and family emergencies which justify them passing on their “unfashionable” away tickets. 🤷‍♂️
