think is a rather grandiose term thereIf a boy of 14 or 15 sees fit to stab a 12 year old girl to death I don't think they will change much into adulthood, if you give them a life sentence ( I assume you mean for life) who pays to keep them for the next 70 years or so, and in your infinite wisdom what do you do when all the jail's are full? Just let some out? To make room for the never ending stream of scum our society is breeding? Killing a child is harsh I agree, but I stand by what I said as it's the only way to cure society, that innocent 12 year old girl is never going to have a life now and her family will live with it for the rest of theirs, why should the person who cruelly and deliberately took it away fare any better?
I agree, but a very grim situation requires a very grim solution, last I recall lighting a candle wasn't working.
I’m sure these lads were very aware of current political events
Two wrongs don't make a right.lives of the girl, her family and friends yes, not the lives of the four lads though, they'll have a whale of a time in their young offenders home, canoeing, mountain biking, rock climbing etc, taught by some left wing luvvie, who knows deep down they're all good lads, just a bit misguided, then let out by the time they're 18, they'll all look back and laugh about it one day, seriously, they will, and there lies the problem with our society! if she has been fatally stabbed and the one that struck that blow can clearly be identified by cctv, then he should be killed, this would send out the right message that this behaviour will not be tolerated, instead of the message that we currently send out, which is that it will. sad times.
12 to 15 and from Toxteth so you'll forgive me for assuming they weren't on the politics subforum of a Sunderland Fans Message Board.
Don't be a tit.
Extremely. Needs a time out IMHO.
To cool off more than anything.
I am not full of hatred at all, I feel empathy for that 12 year old girl and her family and would like them to receive some justice, please tell me your honest answer to this question, in your heart of hearts do you honestly believe that those 4 boys will come out of young offenders home/prison fully rehabilitated and go on to live decent lives without getting into more trouble with the law? If you do I think you're gullible, if you don't, why should they be allowed to have a second chance at inflicting more pain and misery on another unfortunate innocent victim?you are not only wrong but hateful and stupid too
Two wrongs don't make a right.
We need to address the root problems, prevention is better than cure. The death penalty never works, take a look at the USA for how the prison system can fail, tough over there and it has one of the biggest prison populations in the world but crime is still very high and more and more people end up going into the system. I would rather we followed the Norway model.
We all know the "bad" areas in our country, what do they have in common I wonder?
You didn't have a solution to the problem though, so my solution is very harsh I agree, but the softly softly approach isn't working and the problem is getting worse and worse.think is a rather grandiose term there
of course this is an emotive issue, of course I'm heartbroken for that little girl and her family but that isn't a reasoned or rational response to the issues this raises and deciding that the appropriate response is to pour scorn on the children who stabbed her is juvenileI am not full of hatred at all, I feel empathy for that 12 year old girl and her family and would like them to receive some justice, please tell me your honest answer to this question, in your heart of hearts do you honestly believe that those 4 boys will come out of young offenders home/prison fully rehabilitated and go on to live decent lives without getting into more trouble with the law? it isn't a solution it is an understandable knee jerk reactionYou didn't have a solution to the problem though, so my solution is very harsh I agree, but the softly softly approach isn't working and the problem is getting worse and worse.
So prevention would be 100% better then, its why we need to invest and figure out how to solve these problems before someone is killed. It is not about making a right though. The purpose is to protect the rest of the community and in that regard it does work because they are unable to commit any further crimes.
However I do not agree with the death penalty so would not agree with bringing it back. For these sorts of crimes I would instead very much welcome a whole life order and preferably confined to a small padded cell with bread and water for the duration.
I realise you are still pissed off from my describing one of your threads as "desperate" but for gods sake get over it man.

it should always be about that, even if the person can never be deemed safe to leave prison, we always need to be looking to rehabilitating the offender.Sometimes it's not about rehabilitating

I agree, so tell me how you keep society safe when the prisons are full and there is nowhere to lock people up who pose a threat to society without releasing some of them back into society? Given the slating you gave me for advocating the death sentence I'd like to know your solution.Get over yourself man. There's bigger issues then being petty on here as I'm sure you'll agree.
Sometimes it's not about rehabilitating, but keeping society safe from them and their actions.
I wouldn't pour scorn over them, boiling tar would be my choice.of course this is an emotive issue, of course I'm heartbroken for that little girl and her family but that isn't a reasoned or rational response to the issues this raises and deciding that the appropriate response is to pour scorn on the children who stabbed her is juvenile

this was addressed more fully in 1551, filling up prisons is not the solution primarily as it is reactive rather than proactive and America is the proof that it does not workI agree, so tell me how you keep society safe when the prisons are full and there is nowhere to lock people up who pose a threat to society without releasing some of them back into society?
