Away tickets - Loyalty points . . .

Someone was caught selling tickets on facebook and has had their season ticket cancelled for the remainder of this season and they'll not be able to renew next season they'll only be able to purchase a new season ticket once the waiting list has been sorted. Could be effectively banned from having a season ticket for a number of years.
Wow. They won’t do that again.

I did not know this. Brilliant news. Why aren't the club advertising this as a deterrent to others.
I put on a different thread that West Ham banned 40 fans for tickets sold at the Man Utd game

Think you’re reaching a bit here. I don’t remember putting a number or percentage on it.

Just said there are numerous examples from people on here saying they regularly pass on tickets (some of which I’ve benefitted from).
So you have no idea how big of an issue it is but are constantly whinging about it anyway?
Hopefully people are aware it's a criminal offence to dispose of tickets without a license.

Unfortunately a full ID check seems a long way off as to ID check 3K isn't practical as it's the home club dealing with the administration process.

Sunderland send 6 stewards to every away game as it's a requirement of the premier league.

Yes
Yep this is definitely happening. People need to be careful

I've yet to see any suggestion that would, in my opinion, be a good and fair system.

Basically, anything that has been suggested takes tickets out of the hands of fans who have attended a large number of aways over the last three years to give them to someone who is suddenly available to attend aways now we are back in the PL

Yes there will be the odd exception that someone has just suddenly been able to attend aways this season (new job, better pay, less family commitments etc) but they are in the minority

Like you say, every system out there has its faults but ours is about as fair as it gets - put the miles in, get your points and you get your tickets.

Buying and selling on needs sorting (ID checks are a good start) and branches using numbers to fill buses needs sorting (no idea how branches operate with that so not sure if ID checks help there) but beyond that I say we wait at least till the end of next season and probably the end of the season after before even floating the idea of changing things
I agree with most of what you say there, but again the phrasing isn't helpful. I don't think there'll be many who never went away but suddenly want to do so now we're in the PL.

Loads of fans will have around 15 points, so might do 4 or 5 away games a season. There's no doubt more of them than there are people who go to every game. These people are used to getting the chance to go to a few aways and will probably be the ones most disappointed that suddenly they can't get to any (maybe Everton if they were dead fast). They won't be people who expect to be able to go to the biggest games. They'll be used to the pick of the games selling out but they've always previously gone to a few of the others which now isn't an option.

Again, I agree with you in that there's no need to change the system after half a season of very high demand. I'm not saying these people in any way deserve to take tickets from people who have gone to many more matches. I just don't think it's helpful to imply the people who are now missing out are mainly people who never gave a fuck before and now suddenly want to go. In many, many cases it'll be loyal fans who did travel in league one and the championship but who simply aren't in a position to go all that regularly and wish they could get to 4 or 5 games again this season like they always have. There'll be very few genuine "plastics" complaining imo

Why would I whinge. I live in London and don’t have a SC so I benefit from the current set up. More ID checks means less ticket availability for me.

I know that it’s a big enough “issue” that obtaining away tickets with zero points is easier than obtaining them with 70. 🤷‍♂️

Keep up.

Im not convinced at all about demand plumetting.

These lads doing every away will continue that way of life surely.

I agree. The lads/lasses I know at the top of the loyalty points tree have been doing all/the vast majority of games for years. It would be strange stopping now we're in The Premier League and the club as a whole looks to be on the up.

Demand will not reduce, it'll increase.

Why would fans spend so much time and money travelling to the likes of Bristol Rovers, Gillingham, Plymouth, Cardiff, Swansea, Norwich etc stop going in a 2nd season in the premier league.

Away days in the premier league are cheaper than away games in the EFL due to the price cap.

Yes, there's a novelty for some about this season and some, I'm sure won't bother with West Ham at 12:30 on a Saturday next season or Brentford on a Tuesday night for example, however, the drop off will be tiny. Those fans will be replaced by fans who weren't able to get tickets this season, however, the fans on high points will still go virtually every week, if not every week. That may change if we're in a relegtation battle for a few years, but other than that demand will just continue to rise as it is at most clubs.

I agree to an extent but 15 points over three seasons is very little when we have had points given out for home cup games, home league games and ladies games - you are probably talking about a maximum of three aways a season if you got all possible points from home games.

Problem is you have Karen shouting the loudest because she bought a season ticket this year and was hoping to go to Newcastle away and now cannot get a ticket - hopefully the club simply ignore the likes of those. The people between 15 and 25 points absolutely deserve a voice - I just have no idea what the solution is for them!

I still see demand dropping next season slightly and lets face it, its Sunderland - I wouldn't be surprised to see us back in the Championship within five years then people can get all the tickets they want...

Could easily have to wait for a ground extension for that.

How do the manage to sell them? I thought the way they do it now is foolproof.

Fuck around and find out I suppose

That level of punishment for a first offence is a bit harsh like imo (as much as I hate the selling on of tickets) - I reckon a warning for a first offence is enough and points wipe for second offence and then punishment they have had for a third offence is fine if you are stupid enough to get caught three times (assuming you could get a chance to actually buy a ticket with zero points)

Yeah, I fall into that bracket like. Used to go to every away game I could get to. Largely stopped doing weekend aways when my lad was born, but would go to midweek ones when i was able to with work. So went to a few shitholes in league one. I'm not that bothered this season tbh, would be good to get to a midweek one or two but there aren't as many midweek PL games so it was always going to be a challenge, I'm happy enough watching on the TV for now. Equally it would be good to take the bairn to his first away but he's only 11 and realistically I'd rather he was 14 or so before I took him regularly. When he's 18 I'll hopefully have a way to build points again, I'll have all the time in the world on a weekend!

There's probably a lot in that bracket, some of whom will be disappointed this season. I'll be disappointed if a few years go by and we can't get to any games, but I don't think it'll be the case. Like you say, we are Sunderland after all! But even though ID checks and the current black cat point scheme disadvantages me I still think both are the right thing to do. If it's the same a few years down the line and no one can start doing any then it'll need looking at but it won't happen
