Nissan

minimum wage for a job with similar hours per week is £24,761.88 not including shift allowance. with shift of 12 % it's, £27,733. Now try and get new starters to come and slog their guts out for about 2k extra a year.
Aldi have permanent day shift jobs in Darlo paying £28k

NMUK working month is 169 hours which multiplied by the current min wage of £11.44 is as I said £23200 a year, so with a 12 per cent shift allowance would be £25984 (most places with minimum wage wont give you that shift allowance by the way). But that’s bottom of band, be a decent employee ,actually graft, get to top of band and you are earning money way above. It’s absolutely stupid comparing with the minimum wage.
this one pays even more.

I put in 7% the company puts in 12% , total 19%
I also pay 15% AVC too
You are on the platinum only available to people who were in the old scheme though.

I put on my blue sheet though to open it up to other long timers (10+ years)

ir35 think your missing the point. Most new starters don't plan on staying 5 years, and if you can get paid a similar wage for less graft and the utter bollox that we have to put up with, who can blame them. No wonder the staff turnover is so high.

That’s the problem they are getting to vote and affect the people who see their long term future there when they don’t give a shit what the consequences of their short sighted attitude is, they can walk straight into a Similar paid job . We can’t

Just for context current top of band manufacturing staff on two shifts allowance earns £40,405 a year (plus 7 per cent contribution to their pension). IMO Comparisons with minimum wage are ludicrous, someone working the same hours on minimum wage would earn just over £23000.
I’m man staff but only work dayshift. Pisses me off when they lump the shift allowance in with any pay so it looks like people get more than they actually do

You are thick as mince you like. So what do you want them to do vote for your best interests? And not themselves? The reason they can walk into a different job is because they are on 15% less and always will be. The reason you can’t walk is because you’re always going to be on a higher wage.
Maybe some people don’t want to retire in a windowless tin box, there’s more to life im afraid. Every man for himself you get out of life what you put in stop moaning

So next January when all the stand downs have been taken , where is the volume flexibility. Are they going to start with you can have the day off unpaid or use a holiday shit again?
They can change it anytime can’t they they did during Covid they don’t have to attach it to the pay negs

Im not moaning I’m happy with the offer it’s the broth heads who expect a 3k lumper ontop of 3.5% that are the problem that are not ! they don’t give a fuck of the outcome , but I guess that’s the problem when you drop the skills test and test scores you end up with a load of gammon calling the shots on the future

No really. It’s called negotiating why accept the first offer they give

They’ll agree a new Covid type one with the CC no doubt

UNITE are about as much use as a chocolate fireguard in here. Just look at how they buckle in the pension row
As a Union member to say they buckled is a load of shite. Union balloted for strike action and there was no appetite for it

Would have helped if they sent ballot papers out to everyone. Issue was brought up with that arsehole Bush and CC and it was ignored and I’m not talking about a couple of members either

Then surely you were at the protest and new there was going to be a ballot which I was and did not get a ballot paper but rang one of the Reps and got me one which was not hard

Why would that benefit the Union?
The union have no power in Nissan they just had to show that they were doing something to the members they had ( which after that reduced even more after that)

Something like 600 returned papers out of 1700 suggests something wasn’t right considering how important it was
