Nissan

Just for context current top of band manufacturing staff on two shifts allowance earns £40,405 a year (plus 7 per cent contribution to their pension). IMO Comparisons with minimum wage are ludicrous, someone working the same hours on minimum wage would earn just over £23000.

You aren’t going to get more than that % wise even when we making record figures of cars we only got inflation and a bit
The whole procedure is ridiculous ! having a bunch of berks who don’t give a shit if the company goes under as their wages are low they can walk into another similar paid job easily , voting for an acceptable pay rise I mean what could possibly go wrong
Vote no and find out they’re not gonna shut the plant ffs. Might come back with .5% extra on year 2 or add a lumper no one knows only way to find out is a NO vote.

What if people vote no and company say nothing more. What happens then?
They’re under no obligation to give a pay rise. There won’t be a pay rise for the foreseeable if it’s not accepted, that’s the reality of the situation. It will be accepted anyway, most people are reasonably well informed enough to realise the current situation is not the time to be trying to force a better deal.

Pretty hard to ask for govt help if bumper payrises are given. Id have thought the main objective this year at least is to retain jobs even if the payrise isn’t great
It’s pretty obvious nissan aren’t in the best place financially atm, and could be worse again next year if Chinese and yank sales keep on dropping.
far more important for everyone at the company (worldwide) to ensure the jobs are still there for years to come

The point is, the actual offer is actually very reasonable. The UNITE union will certainly recommend accepting.

If they insist on % then anyone above Supervisor level should be exempt. Said all along it should be an amount of basic pay like they did on the last deal.

Say the managers are on £100000 a year that first year deal is worth £3500 a year to them where as the bottom band earner it’s worth around £1000
Pay deal only covers upto Senior level. Managers, Directors and above are not included.

12% contribution to pension.
The pay rise and lumper is probably fair given the sh!te the company is in. But they still haven't addressed the issue of top of the banders getting no merit award each year, I haven't had any merit award for 12 years.
Also they haven't done anything the stand downs (flexibility agreement), this was the perfect opportunity to increase the amount we can owe, lengthen the payback term to give the company greater volume flexibility.
Of course a nice lump sum for our agreement aswell.

So next January when all the stand downs have been taken , where is the volume flexibility. Are they going to start with you can have the day off unpaid or use a holiday shit again?

You do realise they don’t have to give you fuck all don’t you
No really. It’s called negotiating why accept the first offer they give

They’ll agree a new Covid type one with the CC no doubt

UNITE are about as much use as a chocolate fireguard in here. Just look at how they buckle in the pension row

minimum wage for a job with similar hours per week is £24,761.88 not including shift allowance. with shift of 12 % it's, £27,733. Now try and get new starters to come and slog their guts out for about 2k extra a year.
Aldi have permanent day shift jobs in Darlo paying £28k

It’s 12 percent including the 5 per cent put in by the employee . I agree regarding the merit awards.
