Is £41k the maximum a shop floor worker can be in at Nissan. Seems decent .
How does that compare with other factories ?

What you may also be talking about however is the 15% drop in pay for new starters in 2006ish. Some of them got it but depending on the start date threshold some of them got well dropped in the s**t. It was shocking really.

Thanks. Maybe I’m wrong then. I thought from memory it was Nissan. I do know that one of the third parties has new starters squawk like a chicken on their first day. Also I believe that there was an issue just before Covid with human materials being found on pens.
 
Is the whole Nissan thing at the moment just posturing by the company?

My wife works at Vantec and It’ll probably massively affect them if anything happens at Nissan.

I recall my manager in a meeting saying that in Mexico all new starters work shifts and as you work there longer you move onto days when a position is available.
No shift allowance is paid.
He believed that Sunderland should follow that model.
 
Loads of jobs out there that are awful with horrible people in terrible conditions during unsocial hours. Money there if you want it that badly.

Obviously coming from a place of ignorance, but assume a well-paid job that doesn't require decent qualifications will attract all the worst kinds of people and shrinking violets will be bullied out of it so their wrong-un pals can take their place.

Rather live modestly and not make myself sodding miserable (am as it is!). Doubt I could hack intense physical labour anyway.
Hope the company goes from strength to strength, because thousands of young lads suddenly being planted on the dole and them all having to fight for the same kinds of jobs doesn't bear thinking about.
No doubt Kier and co will have them all harassed for the position they'd put them in.
