Jack Clarke

Read my post as I didn't say he was I said he was decent enough as he wouldn't have 2/3 players on him that clarke had on him last year. He's good enough and quick to be at a man 1 on 1 as that's what he'll have marking him with the 2 new c/f taking other defenders away from him.
You’re living in cloud cuckoo land Marra.👍

Of course it did. It got used on Rusyn, Aouchiche, Pembele, then Mundle and Hjelde.
How do you know this though? We may have been signings these regardless, they all cost next to nowt apart from Rusyn and Hjede, as I said before we’ll never know what has been used and what hasn’t.

I am fully expecting Ipswich to come back in with a bid that totals £25m and they will get him.

I also think this will bring about a slight change in the way we play and having two wingers who's main job will be to supply this Simic, Isidor or Mayenda. I fully expect the striker to be the focal point going forwards rather than Jack Clarke.

I'll certainly miss him as he has been exceptional for us but if the time and the money is right for him, who are we to argue if we get the right money for him.

We need big investment coming out of this though, both in paying fees for players and better wages for some of our top players to take us forwards.

Hope Clarke plays Saturday though and gets a great send off if he is likely to go.
He doesn't want to go to Ipswich

If we sell Clarke for £25m it’ll confirm a lot of people’s fears about the real ambitions of this ownership.

Leeds have just got £40m for Rutter. Who averaged about a goal in every ten games for them.
You can't look at one transfer fee and judge every transfer off that one.

If that were the case every PL CB would be a £100m fee because Man U bought Maguire for £80m.

£25m for a very good Championship winger is still extremely good money.

How, don't you think mundle is not good enough to beat his man. He may not be good as clarke now but if you remember clarke wasn't all that in L1 when he first came. Give mundle a run of games like clarke had and he'll be good enough

All these wet wipes wiping their fannies over clarke maybe going, yes he was our most dangerous forward last year when we had no strikers and most of the time had to beat 2/3 players but to say we don't have a replacement is stupid. We don't need a replacement as good as clarke albeit it would be brilliant but I think with mundle there and the 2 new strikers plus mayender up front he'll only have 1 defender on him. Those 3 c/f whoever plays will take away those defenders that clarke had to get past to make things happen, mundle could be just as effective with his speed going past the right back. Teams aren't gonna put 2/3 players on him when we have such good c/f. Just my thoughts and I don't care if no one agrees

I disagree. The market is the market, and it’s completely reasonable to benchmark.

Selling Clarke for £25m would be a disgrace

For me, it feels like £20m is probably enough for us to build our the depth in our squad at CB, probably sign the two strikers we need and replace him at left wing with someone who can contribute 10 goals a season.

It's perfectly possible that with a more balanced side we will actually improve in terms of goals across the side, and become a better attacking team.
I have no problem with him leaving on two conditions:

1. We play hardball with the fee and don’t accept anything less than £25-£30 million.

2. We sign a quality, first-team ready replacement before next Friday’s deadline and use the majority of the remaining fee to improve key positions.

The first condition I have no doubt we will do given the club’s record. The second, I’m not so sure! 🙄

Can’t be funded by the money if we haven’t got it yet.
Because money can't exist if it's not in your hand. Have you ever paid for something on credit then paid it off when you got paid?
Alese isn't getting the centre back spot in front of O9. Luke's passing and general play is far better.
You're probably right. But I'm glad I don't have to be the one to tell Alese he's sitting once Dan's back.

Just an easy guess isn't it. Did you really think you're bringing in 5 permanent signings for next to nothing and it doesn't take up that 8m to 10m? Rusyn alone was about 2.5m.

We sold Lihadji with Speakman building it up saying it allowed us to move immediately into the market - its been said since we got back a little more than we paid, around 2m rather than the speculated 5m which was frankly ridiculous - it was a month before we signed the players I mentioned.

We knew we were after Rusyn but absolutely nothing happened until Stewart had both feet out of the door waiting to sign for Southampton, then Rusyn, Burstow, Aouchiche and Pembele came in on the same day.

Then there was around 3.5m to 4m allegedly invested in Mundle and Hjelde.

That 10m was spent, quite poorly and nothing this summer, so where is it?

Really ? It’s a funny old game and I hope you’re right mate, I doubt you are though 👍

Funnily enough no I haven’t but I understand your point that still doesn’t mean money from a Clarke sale is what’s getting used for another player coming in.

Only four more years of Hjelde left to pay for.
