5th test the oval

Been a big critic of crawley meself and duckett now too. Think over the series we’ve seen and accepted this is the mantra and they’ll get out. With the pair of them and more so crawley as he looks the absolute dogs bollocks, always got time never looks in danger then gets himself out too often it’s just frustrating. For our openers to get 700+ between them in 9 matches is a cracking effort for the style they play with.

If duckett ever learns to leave he’s going to be a real player. I think he’d suit being 3 better but would need another opener.

Aye I agree. I felt like because of the way bazball is to be played it was going to be Crawleys downfall. But I stand by my opinion that I think he's altered his game ever so slightly and he's reaped the rewards, he leaves more balls than he did previously. And it's worked for him

Literally no harm in Duckett leaving the odd ball here and there, he will gain more runs long term doing it.

Nevermind that, 14th best series average in England Ashes by an England player
6th most runs by an England opener in home Ashes series
Best average for an opener since Gooch 32 years ago
14th for runs scored not series average, though his average is still great and is only behind root and Stokes averages (2015 and 2019 respectively). In the last 20-30 year

I don't struggle with it. I just don't agree with it at times. I think there's situations where you have to step back and rein it in. An opener will simply be judged on his career by runs.

Bazball worked last test to a degree, we dominated them. First couple of test there were numerous situations where it needed caution from time to time. Not saying Duckett should play cautiously, but the odd ball should definitely be played with caution
Sometimes he does a check drive ;)

That snicko looks a bit dubious to me. That sort of spike is on big edges and there were numerous other spikes

it wasn’t a big edge and the umpire heard nothing

I think it’s probably a correct decision but there was a lot of spikes showing off what was a thin edge
I could see deviation on the Duckett wicket.

I was washing the dishes with me iPad on the windowsill watching.

There was a knick definitely but the snicko was showing numerous peaks around it

just looked funny and Warner never appealled and he’s worse than broad

was a strange one but I feel a correct decision as well

Just surprised me this series mate, used to land it on a six pence.
It’s bazball pure and simple. If we aren’t aggressive against him then he does land it on a sixpence and he does have an excellent series.
