5th test the oval

Completely agree. The level of improvement with bat and in the field has been astounding. Fair play to England for backing him as it looked like it was going an epic failure on their part.

I know it's all part of "bazball" but Duckett needs to stop playing at every single shot for me. I wouldn't want to look back on my career with a host of 30-40s in the history books but played at every single possible shot so see it as successful.
You just struggle with the entire concept I think. The reason Duckett was picked because we have tried umpteen test openers that have failed time and time again batting conventionally. We have chosen Duckett because of his natural talent knowing exactly how he plays and how he plays has led to him averaging over 50 since his return. It has been unquestionably successful imo.

And if Duckett fails he hasn't took 2 hours out of the innings scoring 15 ;)

Exactly it’s very rare and you not going to get the perfect opener who attacks, gets you quick runs, but always leaves well and gets those runs without risk.

People are a tad naive to expect that.

It does frustrate me at times that people get more frustrated with batsman getting 40/50/60 then getting out than they do grinding a battling 20/30 as that seems to be accepted even though less runs

Agreed

the next two days are going to be a problem as there is a lot of rain about. Would love to get them batting again tonight as I think it will be two days of on and off after today

be a real bitter pill for another rain draw
Thought tomorrow was clear and Monday rain affected

Fine bowler him, some like to worry about England if they lost their best bowler. Imagine the Aussies without Pat?

Joe is due one.

Because usually they’re in and set. In test cricket if you get in, you hope they capitalise.

I don’t think it’s any more accepted or looked upon more favourably when someone gets out for 20/30 mind
