36.566 Leeds average

A load of fuckin nonsense tickets for a fiver another myth.
The Leeds Greater Metropolitan area has a population of 2.75 million a one club city your attendances are shite.
Sunderland has a population of 270,000 with the North Sea on one side and is surrounded by green fields we put you to shame for attendances.
We got more than you got in League 1
You were fuck all in history before the cheating Revie took over.
Sheffield Wednesday are the biggest club in Yorkshire.

Unfortunately most neutrals would disagree that you or wendies are anywhere near the size of Leeds United.

Sunderland tickets are the cheapest in the league again because the stadium is too big.

Whatever helps you sleep.

You haven’t got a clue.
There have been countless seasons when your reduced capacity has been too big.
You’ve never had massive numbers at home despite your huge catchment area.

Leeds are the 7th biggest club in the UK and to suggest otherwise is stupid.

Well a quick check of the all time top flight table has you in 19th.

The all time average attendance table has you in 12th.

7th biggest club in Yorkshire maybe, certainly not the UK.

Lies, damn lies and statistics. Leeds qualified for all European campaigns not as been suggested through an invite bit by league position. In any case 2 European Cup semi finals and a final since 1970 is not too shabby. Throw in a cup winners cup final as well for good measure. In my lifetime we have won the top league 3 times.

Our ground is considerably smaller than Sunderland's and with 50,000 members and a ST waiting list of 22,000 I am confident that an increased capacity would be filled. Don't forget Sunderland only averaged above 20,000 on 6 ocassions in a 20 year period through 1980-99 when you were at RP with its lower capacity.

I think if you asked other teams fans who is the bigger you would get a fairer reflection.

In trophies won they have both won 7 major trophies Sunderland 6 league title's and one fa cup leeds 3 league title's 2 European tropies 1 fa cup 1 league cup we have played 4 games in Europe leeds 75 games and have appeared in 6 major European finals so in that metric we don't come anyway near Leeds

Shame you've been deleted in a way because I'm curious which of the cup wins you've ignored/discounted/shown your ignorance of.

Agreed. Leeds are a much bigger club than Sunderland.

Sunderland have a limit on how big they could be. Leeds have unlimited potential.

Sunderland do have a good support though and are a decent sized club. But they aren't in Leeds league.

Sunderland have only soldout the SOL about 5 times since it opened 26 years ago.

Leeds would have soldout 50k many times if capacity allowed.

We piss all over ya attendances like, no doubt about it

Bless ya little 20 odd thousands in the championship

Some very deluded people on this thread.

Sunderland have a small catchment area relatively speaking. Leeds have one of the biggest footballing catchment areas in Europe.

Ask most neutrals who are bigger, Leeds or Sunderland, most would say Leeds. That cannot be denied. They just would.

The only clubs bigger than Leeds in the UK are Man Utd, Liverpool, Arsenal for sure. With their success you have to say man city and Chelsea. Celtic bigger too.

Sunderland sell tickets for about a fiver because the grounds too big. No other cubs sell cheap tickets in all around of the ground like sunderland do.

If other clubs did what Sunderland do then they'd get the same or higher

so why was the East Stand Upper closed for 10 years?

Why have sunderland only soldout sol less than half a dozen times in 26 years?

Serious question.
That isnt true.

Weve sold it out pur last 2 games alone

Why have you averaged 20 odd thousand last few year in the championship? Some waiting list

From what I can find online Sunderland have soldout the stadium of light in the home areas 7 times in 26 years. That's shocking considering the amount of big games you've had.

Who gives a fuck who's the biggest club. (OK plenty on here do bar me)

What does it prove? What does it matter?

The skunks think they're a big club but little old Wimbledon have won more major trophies than them in the last 40 years

This big club debate is an effin farce

If Hartlepool were deemed a bigger club than us I frankly couldn't give a toss

SAFC Till I die

The age old problem of confusing size and success. Are Leeds more successful than Sunderland ? Yes. The truth is however that Sunderland are a bigger club than most of the premier league.
We should know better than anyone fan bases mean nothing
We’ve both gone from low teens in the 90s to huge crowds now -but won nowt in between
Very very happy with the way safc are now going-when I see the likes of Rigg at 16 not looking out of place ( we’ve tried spending -failed -now at least we have a plan and players I’m as proud of since the Reidy days and those of 73 ( with odd ones in between)
As you say big crowds win nothing -but team spirit -organization-a manager/players who want to be here ( not cash cows ) and a connection with the fanbase just might .

Even you largest ever crowd at Elland Road was due to Sunderland supporters, That speaks volumes as to who is biggest.

The club's record attendance is 57,892 against Sunderland at Elland Road, in a fifth round FA Cup replay in 1967

Go and play with clubs more on your size like Norwich and Portsmouth.
It’s a funny thing the internet.
You usually find that a gobshite on it is usually a gobshite in the “real” world aswell .
Are you a season ticket holder at Elland Road by the way?
