36.566 Leeds average

Really? I support neither and think Sunderland are bigger than Leeds. I'd argue that they're bigger than Newcastle too which is obviously easy to say on here. I don't get this Leeds big club thing. They've spent more or less the same amount of time outside of the top flight. have hardy won anything. and dont have the ability to affect new stories relating to their ongoings. No bigger than Wolves.

Yeah, really - but fair enough, I still stand by what I said about neutral fans

The argument about money destroying the game has been raging for decades. Right back to the 1930s Arsenal, Everton, Blackpool and villa were known as Bank of England clubs cos of their financial supremacy. Same with Sunderland in the 1950s. Alf Common's £1000 transfer from Sunderland to Boro in 1905 caused outrage. Then in more recent times you've had the likes of Walker's millions buying Blackburn the title. Man City and any other wealthy club today are just modern day versions.
Its not a valid comparison in my book ...........tv money and trillionare owners will change the fabric of the game ..yes there was a spending pyramid of clubs in the past never affected the traditions of the game............Global tv money will eventually destroy the game as we know it i doubt it will be recognisable in 20 -30 years time .

Some very deluded people on this thread.

Sunderland have a small catchment area relatively speaking. Leeds have one of the biggest footballing catchment areas in Europe.

Ask most neutrals who are bigger, Leeds or Sunderland, most would say Leeds. That cannot be denied. They just would.

The only clubs bigger than Leeds in the UK are Man Utd, Liverpool, Arsenal for sure. With their success you have to say man city and Chelsea. Celtic bigger too.

Leeds are the 7th biggest club in the UK and to suggest otherwise is stupid.

Sunderland sell tickets for about a fiver because the grounds too big. No other cubs sell cheap tickets in all around of the ground like sunderland do.

If other clubs did what Sunderland do then they'd get the same or higher attendances.
Can you point me out to these £5 tickets please?

The biggest myth going.

Ps why did you pretend to be a Sunderland fan if you hate us this much?

Exactly. Kids from disadvantaged areas got cheaper tickets through their school but I’m not sure where this myth generates from? Mags snd Magedia? Then it becomes gospel.

We have never given 10,000 season tickets away to generate a myth.

In all aspects, the game is unrecognisable from thirty oddd years ago. So is society. To the younger generation, saturation coverage of the Premier League and a majority of foreign players in the game is perfectly normal. My late father's generation harked back to the era of Shackleton and Carter and thought the 'modern game' corrupted with money, hooliganism and negative football.
Interest in football is at an all time high. The majority of the population are obsessed with the game. So many changes in the modern game I hate. But I have been watching Sunderland for nearly sixty years. It is an age thing.

I know he's been a sad knacker on a wind up but I explained it in link below that even though he may not know it, he's right in some way. He's not on about the school tickets myth from ages ago, he's on about season ticket cost per match now and the concessions being available to U18s in most of the ground, not individual match day tickets.

Our attendance figures will look good, but off the top my head Southampton, Leicester, Leeds,Norwich city,,will all dwarf our match day revenues.,we even have concessions for U21s
