I've had 3 jabs so far.

Given the fact that I am significantly healthier than when the pandemic started, and that the jabs don't limit the spread of the virus I'll likely not be getting any further jabs.

My only worry is that either of my parents get it as they are both 64, so will be encouraging them to continue getting boosters.

Aimed at those who have had all vaccinations so far, will you be having a booster this winter if offered?

Have to say I'm leaning towards "No" at the minute.

Be interested to hear from anyone voting "No" as to why they've changed their mind.
If you’ve had the initial vaccine, or just been exposed to the virus, then a booster isn’t at all necessary.

The only thing being boosted is in fact the profits of big pharmaceutical companies.

What evidence do you have to support your claim? Presumably by initial vaccine you mean the first and follow-up only, as the follow-up was not a booster.

The booster is considered to be highly effective.

I don’t disagree that boosters forever, for everyone, may not be that effective, indeed evidence and guidance on the fourth dose, so the second booster, is that it is really only for people at higher risk, so the over 50s, those with long term conditions, clinically vulnerable etc as well as those working in care settings.

You are however incorrect to say that boosters are not necessary and I would suggest you ask the moderation team to remove your post.

It is wrong and it is misleading and it is recommending people take a course of action detrimental to their health.

To be fair for a so called 'intelligent' lad, you haven't half been dumbed down by the state

Blah blah blah. As ever you have nothing of substance to say and nothing of importance to add, just a continuation of your obsession with proving me wrong, and yet you are still unable to.

Not in the slightest.

It’s as if every single bit of scientific knowledge in relation to how vaccinations and antibodies actually work suddenly went out of the window when Covid-19 popped up.

Suggest you go and read any book or scientific paper from the years preceding January 2020 on the science of vaccinations and antibodies and understand the principles of how they actually work, and then you will understand that my assertion here that a booster is not necessary if you have had a vaccine and/or been exposed to the virus is absolutely 100% valid and correct.

Then once you have done that and relieved yourself of your ignorance, you can ask the mods to remove your post.

I'll be getting my 4th jab within the next week or two.

Caught covid after the first 3. Coughed a bit for 2 days and that was all. No idea what it would have been like without them.

You disagree with my statement that you’ve put in bold text, where I accused you of recommending people take an action detrimental to their health?

You said, and I quote:

This is directly against the advice and guidance given to people, especially those who are older, have a long term condition or who are clinically vulnerable.

For example, the medical director of NHS England said the booster programme was “crucial” for those eligible and a spring and autumn booster would maximise protection.

Can you please explain why the medical director of NHS England is wrong and that people do not need boosters?

yes, but only if it's the one that including the omicron protection. I don't see much point getting another jab against the original Wuhan variant considering they are pretty different.

I think the booster is the “bivalent" that targets omicron, I could be wrong, I'll know on Monday.

Can you please just go and Google “how do antibodies work” already?

Jesus wept.

This is ridiculously basic stuff that you learn in biology class at school when you’re about 11 years old. Therefore it should not require me to spend my Saturday evening explaining an extremely simple concept to a grown adult that even school age children know and understand.

Once you understand this very simple principle, it’s then an extremely simple joining the dots exercise as to why a booster isn’t necessary.

On the contrary, it’s you who simply isn’t understanding.

Research evidence finds that the boosters work and are effective. Expert clinical advice is that boosters are “crucial” and highly recommended.

Your clear failure to refute the research evidence and the clinical advice indicates that you haven’t a clue what you’re talking about.

I would have thought, as an experienced data analyst, as you claim to be, that when presented with data on the effectiveness of the boosters, you would accept that you’re wrong.

Instead you’re going on about Googling antibodies. Mad.

“This study provides evidence of a substantial increase in protection against symptomatic COVID-19 disease after a booster dose of BNT162b2 or mRNA-1273 vaccine during the period when the Delta variant was the dominant strain in the United Kingdom. Very high levels of protection were seen against hospitalization or death with a BNT162b2 booster.”

Tell me again that boosters don’t work and aren’t necessary.
