You've just scraped promotion from the third division , yet the bulk of you seem to think that a manager with a decent record and plenty experience is just not good enough, also resorting to personal insults and accusations about him.

Agree with the condemnation of those making the personal insults but I don’t see the bulk of the board saying he isn’t good enough.

I see some with that view, a large number saying it is a bit uninspiring but see the positives in appointing him and also those who are right behind it…..let’s not push the narrative that the majority/bulk of the fanbase are against this appointment.

I just think that x amount of points might see you finish 15th one season, and 10th the next.

As @The Cabbage has said, the players are generally the most important factor in where a team finishes. On the flip side, Neil's in game management has seen us gain a few points more than we might otherwise, and never underestimate the importance of morale and player happiness.

Mowbray took them as far as he could take them. I'm not over the moon about Mowbray but what we need to do first is to establish ourselves as a Championship club like Blackburn have done and not yoyo like Rotherham, Barnsley and Wigan have done.

No offence to them clubs but we should have bigger ambitions than them....we haven't.

Could really break this down season by season to give an indication of whether promotion was achievable or not, I.e. was he already managing in the top league, did he take over a struggling outfit etc but a Cba. We can all fudge stats

After building for 4 years he got near to the playoffs. (Should have got in them but for terrible end season form). I don't expect us to finish that high generally, just think so much is being made of him finishing 8th last year when many managers gave achieved that, but doesn't necessarily mean they are the right manager

Ye same, given the circumstances I don't think we'd get much better without it being a risk or having to pay compensation, is it a safe appointment from the board, absolutely, but he knows the league and has the experience etc so you'd like to think that will count to staying clear of any relegation battle this season

It's come from watching every game. We could easily have won every game this season. Not looking at just surviving or mid table. Should be aim higher as a club, especially now after watching our games.

There's a number of reasons and some of them being that how does he fit this lauded model we have? It's night and day comparing him to Alex Neil and Johnson when it comes to coaching.

Secondly he's hardly hit any remotely dizzy heights during his managerial career with zero promotions on his CV. He's noted for taking Blackburn to 8th after having a terrible end to last season and for taking Middlesbrough from 22nd to 12th and safety. Suggesting that this is nothing more than a stop gap appointment and part of an incremental plan to simply survive. Meaning that Tony will have to do one before we hopefully go on to challenge for playoffs etc.

Thirdly it's no surprise he is unemployed, like Neil before him, further suggesting we don't have two pennies to rub together to prize a manager of calibre out of a job.

It might come across like I do, but I don't have anything against him but I can't think of a worse appointment, other than your merry go round charlatans a la Pardew, Hughs and Curbishley. Yes the likes of Dyche may be lingering for Prem jobs and perhaps rightly so, but when folk like Chris Hughton are out of work one does wonder wtf we're up to at times.

In addition this lauded model does nothing than boil my piss. Speakman has done nothing in football to suggest he should wield authoritarian power at the football club. The idea that he sits above a manager is palpable, I have no issue in him working alongside and in fact most DOF models have a degree of cooperation and shared responsibility, it's rare to see it utilised the way we do.

We started the season daring to dream, now the wind has been swept from our sails and the ambitions of those above made public meaning that a limp across the finish line will suffice.

I think it more LDS has been steeped in a football culture that doesn't aspire to a Sir Alex Ferguson model. He is you but he has been knocking round a big football club since he was 4. TM fits what he wants young player development attacking football and is free.
