But does it ever work?
All the regimes or states that attempt it seem to get way more negative attention than if they just didn't bother.
Maybe there's another less obvious aim. What that is,I don't know.
As said in my previous post, has there ever been a succesful sportswashing campaign?

Perhaps they are simply trying to diversify their economy, which is oil based and unsustainable as such.

A bit about sportswashing. I do of course know it brings up their disgusting culture from some of the media, of course not all because some are slugs but it also brings out the saudi flag waving and the " it's their country so they can do what they want" brigade . So maybe that's the example of sportswashing working.

The biggest example has to be that shite Greg Norman and his "we have all made mistakes" bullshit regards Khashoggi being butchered. Disgusting and possibly sportswashed ;)

Yeah that is the purpose of the PIF.
However, buying a football club for 300 million, then investing in it, even when you sell it years down the line, how much do you make back?

I read something a while back that City's owners were making $300m a day from oil.

So what is the point of PIF buying nufc to play the long game then make back, what? 3 days oil money?

Imagine your football club being associated with barbaric murdering scum and you lap it up. f***ing disgusting behaviour pond life mags

Did you read my post properly? The icing on the cake bit? That's about celebrating new owners coming in with a bit of ambition. I've not tried to say fans weren't happy at the prospect of that, you must have me confused with someone else.

What I did say was that absolutely no one was out celebrating the human rights atrocities committed by the Saudis, which was suggested in this very thread by another deluded demonizer of Newcastle fans.

There are plenty of numpties out there (especially on Twatter with a Saudi flag in their name) to have a pop at, no need to make your targets up
Why would you dance around with saudi flags, if you were bothered about the atrocities committed in that country. If you are dancing around with a saudi flag, you know what goes on in that country, so, yes, you are celebrating a murderous regime. If someone was waving a nazi flag about ,would you think 'oh, its alright, forget about the holocaust, they are celebrating the Germanys economic recovery'. You wave a flag around knowing what that country is about, and ,quite frankly, a lot of you don't care, as proven by the zero amount of dissent from the saudi franchise fans.
I think most aren't by the looks of it.
Looks of what

Well anyone can invest into a business floated on a stock exchange, for example, I can purchase shares in Disney but it doesn't mean I can control how the business operates.

The Public Investment Fund of Saudi own Newcastle United Football Club and therefore control how the business operates.
This comes down to percentages then, right?

Here's a question for you.
Do you think this sports washing is working and if so, how... and if not, why?
As long as backward numpties like yourself keep coming on here, Twitter, Facebook etc. Idolising them, hoying SA flags all over the shop and making excuses for them ‘well Qatar did it’ ‘Nowt Hitler never done’ then aye, it’s working a treat.

In my opinion at this moment in time it is, but there is a groundswell of dissension from individual sportspeople voicing their opinions Lewis Hamilton, Rory Gallagher, Mainz’s F.C. supporters to name but a few.

Mags are losing their shit over paying for a friendly .

It’s a choice to go or not they aren’t being forced to pay, good job they live in a country where they have a choice to do things they want and not forced into it like some countries, say a country like Saudi Arabia perhaps!
