CC :: Middlesex v Durham

Borthwick Out playing stupid shot to TRJ in first ball of new spell
Absolutely idiotic

He’s got a real problem with chopping on. Think that’s the third time this season.

That’s that then, utterly embarrassing defeat incoming and the season pretty much over with it. So much hope coming into the season, really thought we could challenge for the title, let alone get promoted, as it stands we’re one position above the absolute fodder of Sussex and Leicestershire who are battling it out for the wooden spoon.

Well they where looking so comfortable there and one poor shot from Borthwick and they collapse.
Didn't see any of the last two sessions yesterday but perhaps we actually are not as good a championship team as I thought we where before the start of the season.

Hell of a catch from Robson tbf, I doubt we'd have taken that.

We've completely lost our composure since Borthwick got out. Sick of complaining about him but you can't have a captain who keeps making bad, match-defining decisions like that. He was the set batsman in a difficult situation, they bring their best bowler on and he tries to fetch one outside off stump for four first ball. What was he thinking? Stokes and Eckersley got good deliveries but that one wicket totally changed the dynamic of the innings.

Once again we are looking for heroes from the tail to save the game. Trevaskis, Raine and Carse can all bat and Salisbury is set despite a few scares. We just need one big partnership.

This is absolutely piss poor. Apart from Badger only Salisbury seems capable of doing what’s required. He’s rode his luck but is playing with soft hands and putting the odd bad ball away. Plus once he faced up to the first ball of the last over yesterday his job was done. He’s batted 2 hours this morning which nobody else is apparently capable of.

At around 12.25 this game was headed for a draw within 35 mins the initiative has been handed over to Middlesex on a plate.

Assuming we lose today which I hope we don't, my maths make that 10 wins from 39 red ball games under Franklin? Is that really good enough? Is that progress? Should he be given more time?

Borthwick batted well, strange person to pick on

Depends when his contract is up. I doubt Durham have the spare cash to pay him up. It will be interesting to see the T20 starting lineup and what plans they have with bat and ball.

Salisbury's resistance ends. What are tge odds of another big score from Trev? Especially as he would likely run out of partners fairly quickly now.

Am I missing something here? There wasn’t anything at all ‘childish’ about what @The Rat said 🤷‍♂️

It does seem odd, in an innings where you’re 120-7, to pick on the bloke who has top scored with about half of that total.

I said myself he seems to have a bit of an issue with playing on, which followed another comment I made earlier about me wanting to see him put that late cut shot away, but that’s more technique than anything and as I say, the lad has top scored in an otherwise shocking batting performance so to single him out for criticism does seem very wrong.

If we do go down to a defeat the reason and the blame if you like should be laid at the feet of the bowlers. Aye, I agree this second innings batting performance has not been good to say the least but the main problem is the inability to take wickets and not putting the other team under pressure, Potts aside.

Blame lies with the Head Coach. He's absolutely shite.
