CC :: Middlesex v Durham

Well I've bit my tongue long enough and even last week highlighted the win papered over a lot of cracks.

By my maths that is 10 wins in 39 red ball games under Franklin and his fancy stupid job title, which as a member I don't feel is anywhere near good enough. I mentioned this on here last year around August time, and said we look more together under Walker & Gidman, ironically when Franklin pissed off to the 100 leaving us behind.

I think it's now time for a change. We have won 1 game in 7 this season, it's simply not good enough. Time to get someone else in and allow them to work alongside Gidman and Walker who under Franklin has been pushed aside and who ironically have coached us to the best times I've had watching Durham for numerous years when they took us to a final.... ironically we lost when Franklin returned.

Performances this season on the whole have been poor, decision making incredibly poor and from a spectator point of view, pretty naff. I'm actually relieved we have the T20 starting next week, something I thought I'd never say.

It's not the biggest thing, but Franklin has absolutely no personality towards the members either. I just don't see what he is bringing to the club, hence I would like to see a change.

That's just my view. Feel free to agree or disagree but I think this fella has had long enough and it's simply not good enough.

Haway the lads.

Blame lies with the Head Coach. He's absolutely shite.
Or Lead High Performance Coach to give him his full title. Well there's little leadership been shown with underperformance rather than high performance on show.
Any self-employed respecting coach would offer his resignation after the amount of undisciplined performances he's witnessed from his players.

Played 7 Won 1 Drawn 4 Lost 2

Considering the players we have this season that is simply unacceptable.
Yeah definitely thought we where genuine promotion candidates. But coming up short.
1. Rushy not taking the wickets we to be honest have taken for granted in the past.
2. The third seamer and there have been a few who have had that role have not taken wickets.
3. Lack of using our slow bowling options to even see if they are good enough to take wickets.
4. Petersen and Borthwick not scoring enough runs and neither have yet played an innings that has set up the game for us.
5. Leadership and decision making on and off the field doesn't look good.

Never mind if you look at the Twitter feed over the past 2 months the season starts on Thursday next week.

I'm not going to put the blame on Rushworth. He may not be getting the results of previous years but a bad streak can happen to anyone. The problem is the squad is dependent on Rushy or Bowlers who are injury prone or have been nabbed by England.

The result is if Chris Rushworth has an unproductive day there is often no one to step up and get the wickets necessary. This is a management issue. The squad is too thin and it doesn't matter if your batting is top class it still needs to be backed up by an effective bowling department and we don't have one.

In terms of the slow bowling option I think Trev is a very good one. Potts and Trev are the two positives from this season.

I don't think anyone is blaming Rushy he has carried Durham attack for years. But for whatever reason he is not taking the amount of wickets we normally see from him and that is making Durham less effective.
Trev dine well but should be bowling more and don't forget he was dropped for the last game and probably only played in this one due to Bedingham not playing

Wasn't he dropped last game because of the concussion protocol? I thought so but I'm not sure.

It's going wrong in the field IMO. Batting hasn't been so strong for years.

Poor bowling (are we only blaming the new Dukes?)
Lack of variety in bowling (not so much last two games with Stokes and Carse to call on)
Dropped catches
No idea when to use spin
Losing points for over rate
Taking bowlers off too early or leaving them on too long
Too much straying down leg side, especially CR and MS
Default field settings
Leaking runs, especially to third man, not building pressure on batsmen
No strategy apparent for removing most batsmen, just depend on Rushy or Potts to conjure some magic

Not sure how much is Franklin and how much is Borthwick but Bancroft had a worse team performing better working with Franklin.

These weird bullying allegations won't be helping Franklin's focus.

As for Walker and Gidman, agree they did a cracking job but we were less weakened by the Hundred than most other counties. We pretty much had a full strength batting lineup

Give it Colly til end’o season.

What's people's view on Stokes in his 3 matches? Personally I didn't expect him to be going flat out but I thought he would be a bit more focused. It felt at times he was playing in one of those practice matches England play on tour when it's 15 a side.

Been a disappointing seven games, Been a real struggle with the ball since the off and promotion is looking a long way off.
Batting is strong down to ten so low scores should be rare but weve not been close bowling as a unit.

Yes on paper we faired well not losing as many for the 100 but we blooded a lot of young players such as Campbell & Doneathy and they never once let the club down, we also saw Clark and Dickson play their best cricket for the club at the time. The place just felt different and you could sense a togetherness in the squad and people knew their jobs (last week vs Glamorgan I was watching players waving their hands in the air in the field absolutely lost and clueless as to what they were meant to do as nobody was saying anything)......... fast forward to this season and it's an absolute car crash, as I've said numerous times this season, the ground is a mess, and the performances on the pitch are equally if not worse...... 1 win in 7.

Some of the on the field captaincy decisions, again I've mentioned it before, have been absolutely laughable, and that day 2 vs Glamorgan ranks up their with one of the worst decisions I have ever seen taking Potts off........ that wasn't just a one off which happens, it's a regular occurrence and again in this game we have seen the game drift away. The declaration vs Leicester was always a debatable decision and we just have to look at what Worcester have just done to Leicester to realise how poor Leicester are, who we couldn't beat.

Recruitment lets be honest has been absolutely shite.

Ultimately Franklin has had 39 red ball games now, he's won 10, and so far this season we have won 1 in 7 in division 2. That just isn't a 2022 issue, whilst I acknowledge we have issues only just occurring this season, this fella here isn't doing anything.

Something needs to change.

Whether it's football or cricket, I always base my views on results, ultimately it's a results business and our results aren't good enough.

As Brandon has just posted..... give it to Colly until the end of the season.

Bad defeat

Was there again today

Poor

Should be doing better I don’t think middlesex attack is great either in my opinion.

Seen that a few times, on stream and at cls. Raine often seems to rearrange the field when he comes on to bowl.

Raine is the only one who looks organised and as I said earlier he has been our overall (bat and ball) consistent performer.

I was embarrassed what I witnessed in the field last Friday vs Glamorgan.
