Running thread 2022

Calf tears in January.
Come back and tried to do a duathlon, crashed and injured my hip. Came back, done a couple runs and then got covid. Came back for a couple weeks and now have terrible sinus issues. Fed up of no consistency.

Nasty run of luck that mate, hopefully it’s due to turn soon

Will keep a eye out for you tomorrow

Think the marathon dream is over. Foot still sore when walking and not sure i can risk further damage by attempting it.

Haven't ran for week and half and two weeks to go, and while it is getting better every day even If I rest for the next 2 weeks and give it ago will be worried something will go wrong on the day and make matters worse.

Sods law but I'm not a spring chicken and still chuffed I managed 20 miles, considering five years ago I was couch 2 5k.

That must be so very disappointing....have you done a marathon before? If not, and you have done loads of training is is it worth thinking about doing one later in the year (if I remember from earlier posts the one you were doing was pretty soon). I'm 49 adn just getting Chantelle into running and hoping I haven't left my marathon dream too late.

Would be my first one.

Aye its annoying as was meant to do it it 2020 and been cancelled twice. Might try one last time, later in the year or maybe even next year.

50 shortly so just running at times seems good enough but always wanted to do one. Such is life. I'm a right pain when injured as just love running.

Good to race the pier to pier again this morning, the weirdness in the goody bag never fails to disappoint 😀
Its a great race and the bag is class I think! Not sure about the seeds but every race should have a mars bar and a can of pale ale in! Dan even packed my bag!👍🏻 Well done Strollers. Great run by the way @MagicRat

Rest, recover and start again mate. The older we get the more niggles, marathon training is frustrating when injuries happen but if you want to do it, do it. Maybe try cross training to save on impact on foot.?

Did my longest run this morning of 7k in around 52mins. Not fast but splits were pretty even, if not negative and the run was really comfortable. I think that might be me nearly a quarter of the way to a half marathon if my maths are right. Slowly increasing my distance as advised 😀.
A third! 21.1km is a half. Well done.

Had a conversation with the physio today and officially pulled out. He reckons ligament damage and given me exercises.

Oh well always next year.

Faster & farther than everyone sat on the couch.
:) :) Good stuff. Is it the same principle abroad...you just rock up with your UK barcode?

Yep. It's an international Barcode, welcome at every parkrun.
