Council Tax Rebate

If you pay by DD and still not had the rebate I'd ring them. Lass who I work with hadn't had hers so rang. They confirmed the DD mandate that they had set up years ago had her surname spelt incorrectly. Doesnt affect them taking money from her, but when trying to match to her account to pay into her, it was blowing up.

Funny that

It's not funny. It's what the Government have told Councils to do. It's why the scheme is an utter shambles, designed by a LSE graduate no doubt. It's nowt more than a Tory party bribe
While I agree generally & comment was sarcastic, I’m not sure what LSE have done to deserve that

I'm just suggesting that the London centric loons have absolutely no idea what is happening in the rest of the country.

Apologies if I've offended anyone who is a LSE graduate.

A bribe is only a bribe if your do what the briber wants you to do. If you take the money and ignore them then it's just a gift.

Give the money to charity if you don't want it.

You are....well they are. Anyone occupying a property in Bands A to D ( and band E if there's a disabled reduction in place) at 1st April is entitled to a £150 payment.

In the case of DD payers it's paid directly to the bank once the first instalment has been confirmed as paid.

Everyone else has to make an application stating whether they want £150 paid directly or taken from their Council Tax bill.

There is no standard application process i.e., every Council could have a different method for the application to be made.

There's also a discretionary scheme, the Government leaving it to each Council to decide what criteria for the scheme.
Stop hijacking the thread with facts.

I think there is now a protocol from the transferring bank (with at least, some institutions) to check the name of the account holder of the receiving bank.

If they do not match, the money does not get transferred.

This was done (I believe) to protect the transferees who were accidently transferring money to a wrong account and the banks were refusing to disclose information of the recipient

Still nothing from South Tyneside. Last DD went out on 3rd May and been paying it this way for the last god knows how long.

Anyone who filled in the online application for Sunderland council actually had any money yet ? I think I'm going to have to reapply or something FFS.
