Death certificates rarely only include one cause of death though, so the figure is meaningless. I would hazard a guess that pneumonia is probably on thousands of death certificates alongside COVID 19.

My uncle had a heart attack and died, but he had 3 different contributory factors on his birth certificate - does that mean he didn’t die of a heart attack?

Nah, I think more from a view that all bodies are fundamentally and genetically flawed in some way and “underlying health conditions” covers so much that it’s nigh on impossible for someone not to have any at all - some not being diagnosed is different to not having them.

Incidentally, people always think it’s really clever to make these FOI requests and thing they’ve uncovered something with the response even tho the data is publicly available anyway.

As someone who has to respond to pointless FOI requests I can guarantee that the data which is requested is utterly pointless because the people asking don't actually understand what they are asking.

Except you don’t actually know that do you? Have you had a full medical recently to test this? Just because something hasn’t been diagnosed, doesn’t mean nothings wrong. Could be any number of things waiting to go off. Could be that you have 5 malignant tumours in various places in your body. Who knows. Which is why the “underlying health conditions” philosophy is stupid - as you don’t really know what’s going on inside someone’s body until they are on an autopsy table

I've had benign cancerous lumps, my brother and sister also, big family no cancers...dad made 95 ma 97, never had flu, last cold 1998. kept fit all my lfe, dont drink or smoke, I'm naturally happy (big factor) I look 25 years younger than I am, no erectile problems and I rock on and off stage.
