"Significant story in cricket". What's wrong with saying he has been accused of racism at a cricket club and remains suspended whilst this is investigated. This makes it sound like he is too busy uncovering match fixing in cricket or some other "story" - it's not a story, it is a real life disgrace. You must be logged on to see media items
I think the problem Vaughan has is all the racist comments he’s been making for years. Kind of goes against you when people make judgements.Guilty until proven innocent
A suspension to allow full investigation doesn't make him guilty until proven innocent. We have seen how not to handle accusations of illegal behaviour at our own club.Guilty until proven innocent
It's racist gaslighting as well. You've tried this one before, silly.
Yep…almost as if someone has had a word with himVaughan had released a much more sensible statement than his last one saying the issue is much more important than him and he wants to help moving forward etc.
Assuming he genuinely can’t recall if in the first instance he had just said “In all honesty I can’t recall saying anything of that nature but I do apologise if anything I did say caused offence” He would be admitting to nothing and would probably still be doing his bbc stuff. Saying he definitely didn’t say it 10 years after when 3 others say otherwise while he is a complete rentaquote didn’t do him any favours.Yep…almost as if someone has had a word with him
“The issues facing cricket are bigger than any individual case and I want to be part of the solution, listening, educating myself and helping to make it a more welcoming sport for all.”
would be a start
The timing of it meaning him missing out on the bbc work as a result is entirely down to Yorkshire delaying the entire process.Guilty until proven innocent
Was always going to happen.
Aside from his absolute whopperness and associated allegations, when he actually talks about Crixket, he can be informative.
That said, the bad outweighs the good.
He may not even be on tvIt'll be The Ashes tv commentary on mute and Test Match Special on through the nights then. Regardless of the racism investigation, I find Vaughan very reactive and knee-jerk in his analysis.
Agree with this like. the problem is even when on commentary he's only actually talking eloquently about cricket half the time at best, the rest of the time he's playing up to his laddish seemingly totally false persona. i say seemingly false because frankly h's not very good at it. which is imo what makes him come across as a bellend. if he just stuck to what he's good at, cricket, he's very insightful and, as you say, informative. a great listen at times, a nightmare at others
Fails to scknowledge that it isn’t Vaughans word versus Rafiqs. Also Vaughan being the controversial rentaquote he is couldn’t possibly know what he said 10 years ago when he has said stuff just as bad since. He has it in him. He got his tactics wrong with a flat denial. You must be logged on to see media items
No surprise there. I loved Boycott as a player but his away from the cricket behaviour - conviction for domestic violence at the top of the list - should have deemed him unsuitable. Nobody cancels these people, they cancel themselves. In terms of game analysis Boycott brought much more than Vaughan who is very easy to replace. If Vaughan really wants to be part of the solution - he doesn't, he just wants his old life and status back because he fucked up his response to the situation he played a part in creating - he would be telling supporters like Boycott to stop the 'cancel culture' rhetoric. You must be logged on to see media items
