‘Methven til I die’...

Passionate about making a massive profit nowt else

I think that was imperative but also they got to play with a massive football club. Obviously football fans and the opportunity doesn't come around often to own one of the bigger clubs in the country.

For folk such as them (level of success) to be handed the reigns of something so enormous in a field they love must have been a dream come true.

As far as mid life crises go, it was a really good one for them.
The arrogance blinding.
Never understood the NE, never made the connection with what the people are about and had never visited before.
Exposed on STID and cringed virtually every time he spoke. A posh David Brent from the office.

Methven did extraordinarily well with many in the North East, I can remember the als report that stated this time felt different as he got the place and the people to a higher level thN even Niall Quinn as he bought them a pizza and pint. Used to drink with the chap who does the youtube stuff and has Bob on leash still.

i'm not sticking up for them just don't see the need to really criticise those messages or be outraged by them. were there protests against murray? some clown chucked a pint over reid, people refusing to go until murray left and then the same with short or certain managers. they never made out we made the sol a difficult place to play, that's come from shite ex players who couldn't handle the expectation

they wouldn't have had the chance to buy the club if short didn't let us nose dive into this league and people still defend him
You asked for some proof. I gave you some proof. If you choose to just hand wave it away then it’s up to you.

The RAWA minutes are very damaging to Methven’s reputation and his mask was off immediately after the play off final defeat with that disgusting interview

You only have to listen to Donald’s podcasts and radio interviews to see he’s full of shite. Telling 39,000 Sunderland fans to stump up a grand a piece so he can “get back what he paid for it” for example.

These are not isolated incidents. The only difference between the two is that at least Methven doesn’t try to hide the fact he’s a complete twat.

Everyone coming across a bit precious once again. Methven came across quite well on the series imo, tried his best to sort out a failing businesses and was met with a team of jobs worths who couldn't be arsed. People like that are a huge part of the problem and he gets pelters for trying to eradicate it. Things needed changing and they needed to be done aggressively.

In terms of the issue about them only caring about making a profit - why would it be any different? They're business men who like football. It's win win or lose lose, if we had gone up, we would have had success on the pitch and they would have got the profit they were after.

More like people’s attitudes are softening because we’ve won a few games.

You are certainly in the minority if you think he came off well in the documentary. Can you remember him shooting down perhaps our most important and impressive member of staff - for fans anyway?

A very poor advert for the private education system.

Thick as fuck and arrogant. A terrible combination

If he hadn't been born into privelege he'd be an absolutely nobody. A sex starved virgin, no mates, even his mother would dread him visiting and all his work colleagues at the call centre would avoid him like the plague.

A sad indictment of our class system that so many people think he came across well in that documentary

Jobcentre plus wouldn't let him near a HGV, even now, the f***ing weapon.

That is sort of what they pay for though isn't it? That thick fuck owns a slice of our club - that's what public school buys: the ability to fail upwards.

It was edited though. Do we know for certain those roling their eyes/yawning etc were doing it whilst even in the meeting with him, let along when he was talking. It was edited to make it the Charlie Methven show, as if he was the white knight coming in to sort the mess out.

Yeah it was definitely edited to look a certain way - still think whilst he wasn't perfect I can't see what other approach he could have taken to sort it out

Yeah remember that - wasn't the best way to deal with an idea especially when you're meant to be encouraging ideas. He's obviously far from perfect but I think he took the correct approach by and large
