Catch owt? There are worse things - hooking your mate in the eye brow on Marsden beach at night is one of them. With a hook loaded with runnydown.
Shame. Shame.
Just his eyebrow! We laugh about it now but I could have been a lot worse. A lesson learnt. Never happened again.Catch owt?
That bottom pic, superb, and did you catch owt?I got home yesterday from one of the best trips I've had this year, I think this is why I go North to fish

Well I fished woodlands yesterday. Got down for around half six in morning and decided to fish the Oaks lake.
set up a little pellet feeder and fished an underarm Chuck to the island on 2mil fisher pellets with a banded 8mil pellet on the hook.
first fish was a skimmer followed by a lovely roach then the tip went round for a lovely little mirror it was faultless lovely fish. Had another carp as I saw a group up in the water so cast near on a pellet waggler about six inches deep straight on.
went quiet after as the sun came out and was boiling. Plenty fish on the top. Next time I need to take some floaters. Any advice on what to use?
got home half six last night so canny day. Had a few more roach and skimmers after the carp.
tight lines.

I once caught a bat fly fishing for sea trout, at night, in Scotland. It took the fly on my back cast and smacked me on the back of the head onthe forward cast. Frightened the life out of me but we both survived once I'd untangled it.Whats the funniest thing anyone has ever hooked?
Mine? I was fishing down the lane at Sunderland docks one night (when it was open to the public). Those who know of it know theres an 8 ft concrete wall behind you, and where you fish is only 6ft wide, so you end up putting your gear over the wall to cast out. You have to watch out though, as people walk behind the wall.
Anyway, I put my gear over the wall and cast out. As the lead went sailing out, I notice something red flapping about on the end of my hook length. As I started to reel it back in, a bloke appeared looking for his woolen bobble hat, just as I reeled it up the dock wall dripping wet.
9ft 5wt and a floating line, Blae & Black was the fly of choice with either a Golden Olive Bumble or a Claret Bumble on the dropper. They are great photos I could picture myself flicking a 7 weight from those banks thanks for posting them .
I often hook Bats on the River Derwent on an evening, I doubt they take the fly I think they get hooked on the cast.I once caught a bat fly fishing for sea trout, at night, in Scotland. A parachute. Was fishing the target one neet and the rescue helicopter turned up looking for a body, blue lights reet down the coast. When he nashed to boulmer to refuel, the coastguard sent them flares up. Went down the next neet and fished the dip. Got a bite and struck. Had to pump the fish in, and hand ball it up the cliff. It was a pin whitey and a flare parachute.Whats the funniest thing anyone has ever hooked?

I hooked a carpet in Amble harbour. Thought I'd managed to bag a skate...I was somewhat disappointed.
And a seagull at Craster harbour. Reeling in my herring bait up the pier wall, the bugger swooped in and took off with it. It took two blokes to hold it down while I removed he hook. Bloody big things mind.
Youtube is your friend, I don't use a tool, I finish by handI am going to get my gear out in the next couple of weeks and start tying some flies after I remember how to use my whip finishing tools.
Class when you see a duck flying with a top two trailing behind it.Great pictures but ffs you need another boat
Pictures can’t do that justice though can they. Superb
Hooked a Coot once after it took my bait whilst Tench fishing.
Sharp claws although managed to get the hook out and let it swim away.
Swans can be a nuisance and you need to be careful with them.
One on lads hooked into a welcome mat in the Tyne off the groin at shields. Should have seen his face after 15mins pumping it in. Mind it looked like it was nodding in the tide.I hooked a carpet in Amble harbour. Thought I'd managed to bag a skate...I was somewhat disappointed.

I have 2 different tools depending on the design of fly and what materials are around the eye. I know how to hand finish but i think I get a better finish using a tool.Youtube is your friend, I don't use a tool, I finish by hand
