Spanish ex-pats

Jesus mate, a bit harsh. When I'm back in Sunderland I do actually drink in Josephs and Sinatra's and that other place further up towards Park Lane. And I see some lost souls. All with their own story. There but for the odd bits of huge fortune I've enjoyed is me.
But real people. And they get slated on this board.
Some of the bars and places on the costa's that I think @alicante mackem is referring to, hard to describe so I'll pick my words carefully, best I can. They are are on a different level. These aren't just lost souls, some of them, not all, but it is the modern day equivalent of Hell.
Some saint once described Hell as a place without love. I've been in bars over here where the only glue is hatred, hatred of what they see the UK has become. Hatred of anyone that they see as not being like themselves. Raging. They see the UK as this multi-cultural shit-hole, the old certainties lost, and now they are in a foreign country and they despise, loathe, and are suspicious of their hosts. But at least Spain really is not that multi-cultural (believe it or not). Not a lot of Muslims or Paki's or Blacks here is the view, just these ferking Dago's.
There is, just, a strand of British Imperialism amongst some ex-pats that persists. A visceral hatred of the other. And in some enclaves at the risk of repeating myself I know exactly what the OP is driving at.
He called me a right wing racist based on something I hadn't read and I'm being harsh with that reply. Hmm.

''Full of English people is why they are vile places I would guess.
Some of our ex p... err, I mean immigrants are very snobby. Love to look down on everybody else from this country to elevate themselves onto a higher plain of self importance.
I think the rhetoric is...... English = baaaaaaaad, except me of course.
Everybody else = goooooood.''

This was the post I was responding to... With respect I thought it a bit of a projection.

If it's a first application you need proof of medical insurance and now I think proof of income.
If it's to just change the green card, it won't be needed.
(I haven't read the whole thread, so apologies if it's been said)

Our Ayto gives out 30 appointments every day. Just have to be there early doors. Even better if it's raining, as half the Spanish won't turn out incase they melt. 😂
I've been trying since seven this morning. Going on your advice that the ayuntamiento give appointments in the morning. Still no luck but slight progress as it now says

En breve, la Oficina pondrá a su disposición nuevas citas.

That's the closest I've ever been to an appointment :)

Still nothing mind. I'm guessing,
en breve/soon could mean sometime in the next 6 months:)
I'll be going over there asap for 2 or 3 months . If I do go down the resedencia route I don't expect anything to happen while I'm there. Friends of ours advise doing anything involving officialdom over there in the hands of your solicitor .
My god ,15 pages and two fights from a story on a shit news site about something that never happened . This place man .

Yes, definitely get a solicitor to sort it out for you.

Is that €27k per person or per couple?
I'm told, reliably, and there is a swirl of info, that for people newly applying it is 27k for a single person or a couple. What constitutes a couple , ie married, living together, separate households, is a moot point. They do like their official paperwork here.

There is yet another point where say the wife has been homemaker and husband breadwinner but fortunate enough to hit the threshold based on his occupational pension and then he dies. The pension is then reduced by two thirds. Below that threshold. Que se occure?

Seems like a lot of singleton's can forget it.

A bit of a projection? Even though when he did answer why they are vile places it was because of the people? So I guessed it right.

It's nee where near that much mate . It's about what the Spanish minimum wage is for workers and the British pensions is enough for pensioners to get in

They let you in if you have the British state pension . So nee probs .
I would strongly advise you to look through this. They are immigration lawyers ansd they reckon 2200 euros per month for non eu residents, plus 500 euros for each dependent.
The rules have changed.
Check it out please, I think you might be being a bit blase. And best of luck

"Bars full of folk who can barely even order a drink in Spanish" - any different to those living in the UK who can't speak English.

"Sitting at the bar complaining about Pakis and Poles in England ruining their country." Any different to those sitting at the bar in Spain complaining about those brexiteer/Tory lovers ruining their country

Also ex pats on here are very vocal that the UK should be even more multi cultural even tho it is one of the most multicultural places in the world- yet by Herd's own admission Spain is not that multicultural. Do these expats voice their disapproval over there ?

I think it's fair to say that there is a sense of snobbery amongst quite a few ex pats on here. Not sure why but thats how it comes across.
