Normality from June 21st

Furlough in place till September, then in September Whitty and Vallance will be on TV with their projections which will then include flu, and will say it’s a bad flu year so we need to have restrictions, furlough extended until 2022. Unless the people rebel against restrictions, which they won’t.

And my kids call me an old cynic but your on a different planet to me
That’s the straw I’m clutching too, but reality dawned for me when it was extended. I just can’t see that pillar of support being removed at the end of September, just as talk of the NHS and wintertime re-emerges at the forefront of public discourse again.

YouGov polls shows many people enjoy this way of life though, I’m not sure what people would do, I think the only protests would come from those whose livelihoods have already been trashed for the last 12 months.

Was a poll the other day suggesting 56% have enjoyed aspects of lockdown, there’s also many polls showing people think restrictions are getting lifted too early, and how the vast majority don’t want life to return totally to pre-March. I’m kinda past the point of caring to a degree, I’ve forgotten what normal was like, become used to this way of life.

What are people expecting come 21st June out of interest?

Full stadiums?
No masks or distancing?

I can’t see full normality by then personally but interested to gather thoughts of others as it’s all a bit unclear IMO.

‘No limits on social contact’ should mean full stadiums and no masks or distancing but we all know restrictions are here till the middle of next year.

By their timetable we should, but the extension of furlough worries me. As well as comments by ministers.

Extension of furlough is to help industries like hospitality and travel ease back to normality IMHO.

No way Boris wants us locked down for any longer. He'd open now if he could but a bit if caution I think is sensible till vaccine numbers are up, and the weather improves.

It's just a safety net should things not go as planned/hoped
It just feels like we are clutching at straws though.

That fucker loves this power he has, don’t be fooled.

Be more positive , don’t turn into another SMB Covid doom poster

It’s very hard to be, but I’m not as bothered as I once was, I’m at the point now where I’ve forgotten what normality was like. Will feel weird when it does turn, if ever.

Try and not let it get to you mate, just stick firmly to what we've been told - irreversible no more regulations and no limits on social contact etc by June (which he'll bring forward to May in any case). I think we'll have more support than you think if this is not delivered.

Isn't he the dickhead who had to resign ?

They are the figures prove it beyond any doubt.

Aye he stepped down for rule breaking.
However, when one of the more cautious experts starts being somewhat bullish about the situation it should give cause for optimism.
