New manager

it's a good sample size. how many managers do you think you'd get through if you were to judge them on a four game run.
The point I was making was you could pick any sample size to suit an agenda.

What's his ppg for all games by the way?

How can you sack Parkinson when he has not been given a fair chance to finish in the play offs or even the top 2 with the season being cut short?
Even when he looked a horrendous appointment after 10 games I always said give him until the end of the season... A season which in practice will probably never end. L1 has been a debacle from day one regarding Bury and Bolton. Bolton should not have been allowed to play with the youth team before their take over. Teams played above us with their FREE points off Bolton boys is wrong like... On this note Phil might deserve another shot

I agree, but we won't get a restructure under this ownership. Getting a manager who is well versed in an analytic approach to recruitment would not only be beneficial now, but it would also bode well if we ever do restructure the recruitment setup to a more holistic approach in the future.

While I agree you can't bottle Wilders success, saying you can't recreate his methodology is akin to clubs in the late 90s saying Wengers success at Arsenal, with his revolution against British footballing traditions, was a one off.

Best footballing practice is forever changing. As a club you can either get in board or be left behind.

I really would implore anyone to listen to the Ian Evatt Tifo podcast. It's not only his football philosophy thats impressive, but his management of people and his ability to improve his players on and off the pitch is something I'd like to see at Sunderland.
Will check it out, marra. And I do agree with what you say tbf. As fans we just need some hope. It’s been an unbroken run of bad football decisions, dumb actions and a complete lack of any evidence that they’re learning anything ever since Donald bought us. As a consequence I very much want him gone as he’s doing material damage to our club. That being said if he appointed a manager with intelligence and a real vision I’d have something to cling to. Christ, right now I’d cling to any hint of hope from even the likes of Rodwell! We’re desperate for a complete change of philosophy and practice. With the clowns at the top it’s gonna have to happen by accident.

What was Alex Ferguson's after 25 games?
Choosing 25 now are we? Suit your agenda?
There’s been thousands of managers sacked or appointed since Fergie got whichever job coincided with the number of jobs Parkie has now had. Why specify Fergie specifically? Why not Butcher or Carver or McLaren? Suit your agenda does it?
no, i compared their statistical record as a measure of success relative to time.
and Phil's better.

Who does everyone want for next season then?

Obviously failure to make the play offs will see the end of Phil....surely he can't keep his job after failing to secure a top 6 place in the third division.

It's got to be Phillips for me, that's if the chancers haven't burnt that bridge already.
Ridiculous to sack Parkinson. He was doing well till our last week of football.

I agree on the ownership. It's not revisionisum, I've never liked him. He took his face for a shite far too often to be a success. If you think of all the loose lipped owners in English football, there isnt a single one who has brought any success to their club. Loose lips sink (owner)ships. These owners remind me a lot of this government, cut costs at every corner and expect it to work because they dont teach failing at Eton.

But let's face it, no one is buying a football club in this climate, and even if they were, half the clubs in the championship are up for sale at the minute so there are a lot better options on the table than us. So by the looks of it we're stuck with him.

I agree we need a complete restructuring, but there is no way the money will be put up by this ownership to do so. That's why I was so excited listening to the Evatt interview, he could be a complete restructuring of the clubs footballing setup in a single appointment.

11 wins 9 draws and 10 defeats
He's failed to win 19 of his 30 games in charge.
Bang average at best.
Counting cup games is a bit unfair. Plus it took a few weeks to find the right system. He’d lost once in 14 games prior to Coventry & Bristol Rovers.

I'd rather appoint someone who at least gives hope he could be a good manager. Currently we have a bloke who we all know doesn't give us any hope. I still can't believe we sacked Ross and Phil Parkinson was the best we could get. The dullest least inspiring managerial appointment since Mick Buxton.
I agree with your assessment of our situation, I just don’t get the clamour for Phillips.

A name we can all relate to and respect and someone we can get behind. He's done his coaching and the next step is management. We're a league one club now, the general consensus is young managers should start at a lower level. That's us and he's a club legend.

Rather him than another has been or never will be like Phil Parkinson

We were crap for a lot longer than a week. Appointing him is what was ridiculous.

Unbelievable people think that imo.
We’d lost once in 14 games prior to that week. Hardly crap. Give your clueless whinging a rest for a change. Imagine being such a dull dreary negative keyboard warrior for over 15 years who lives on a message board. Arrogant vile fat lazy tosser.

6 goals in 14 away games 10 wins in 27 now that's shite
