Proper Roker End

Started in the Roker end and finished in the Roker end, always main stand side at the top. Only ever went in the Fulwell twice, both cup games, main stand on the odd occasion when I was given a free seat. After that it was the clock stand paddock for a few Scumcastle games.

Never felt the same being in other parts of the ground, cold no matter where you where in the ground in the winter but feck me the Roker end was something else

I was a Roker ender, but I’d occasionally treat myself to seats in either stand, usually Clock.
I can remember sometimes you’d get one or two lads climbing up the floodlight pylon for a better view, the mad bastards!
You could see for miles from the back of the Roker end, or - if you looked down - see blokes pissing in the bogs, if that’s what floats your urinal cake...

Roker Ender late 70s early 80s with me dar till I reached my teens mid 80's and he retired to the main stand seats and I migrated to the fulwell end with me mates

Who were the mad bastards who used to stand on the roker end in weather like last night?
Always amazed me that, 3 sides of roker were covered, the roker could be battered by the weather on a Tuesday night in November v someone shit and hardly souls would decide on the roker end.
I was in for Brian Atkinson's debut.
We won 2_1 iirc
Was just over 8000 there.
Around 300 in Roker end

Aye more than likely do just ask Tom he knars me well.
Nee bother.
As we're away to Oxford this weekend, I remember when we went down to Oxford in the 70's. Got there early in the morning after leaving from Tennicks on a Friday night.
Tom still has a photo of us at some monument in Oxford city centre - waiting for the pubs to open.
We had poliss helmets on, and were directing the traffic!! 😂
Happy days.

Stood in old Roker End early 80s. Or sat on crush barrier. Remember a dire 1 1 draw with Notts County for some reason when Alan Brown scored.
Also 1 0 win over man city in 82 that kept us up. That was last game before it was knocked down to much reduced size.

I went in a few times. My biggest memory was that with the terracing being painted red, it used to be slippy as fuck.
It was painted red in the summer of 83
I remember being in the Roker for an early season game against Birmingham, who had a young and brilliant Trevor Francis, must have been about 1971. The rain was incredible. Stair rods...and there were only about 7,000 of us daft enough to be there. Not sure if my memory is playing tricks but Bobby Park might have got one of his bad leg fractures in this game.
Also remember the peanut man ("tanna-a-bag, peanuts!') throwing them up from the cinder track into the Roker End.
Great place to watch the action. Also got a Roker End ticket for the 1973 Man City replay...got a perch where the Roker joined the Clock Stand, quite high up, a brilliant view of the greatest night (IMO) Roker Park ever saw...what an atmosphere, what a performance and what a team.
I was in the Main Stand paddock for the Birmingham game. Never seen the Roker End as sparse before or after. The ground seemed 3 sided. There was a line of guys with brollies sheltering on the back wall and that was about it.

He sent me that pic im sure of a mob of you in Oxford..
We were in the pub early that day, different bus

I can vaguely remember standing in the Roker End for a 0-0 draw when it snowed, and I had about an inch of snow on my front when leaving the ground. Think it was against West Brom circa 1978-82, but I could be wrong as my brain had frozen.

One end I never really bothered with did it once to tick it off , probably due to been 15 when it closed think , some of the older lads used to call us fulwell puffs
