New Music Releases Thread

That's a bad thing though - he'd be better off reacting with contrition rather than bemusement.

As @jacko100 says, it may well not be the same level as Hookworms or, for that matter, Ryan Adams.
I guess it’s hard to know

I do wonder about some of this stuff. Careers ruined based on allegations that never seem to go anywhere. Clearly I’m not justifying any of it, but mud can stick quite easily? Or am I naive?

It's an incredibly difficult area. The details in this case are sketchy and it's pretty clear that nothing illegal has occured and it mostly seems like a relationship has formed in an odd pressure cooker situation (in which one person is kind of the boss of the other) and then gone decidedly wrong.

Liking - Kiwi Jr, The Big Moon, Ben Lee(as previously mentioned), Kalie Shorr (as previously mentioned)

Not liking - Courteeners, Bombay Bicycle Club, Mura Masa,

Unsure - Georgia, Craven Faults

To try - Holy Fuck

get on holy fuck straight away mate
THis week's stuff for me:

Holy Fuck - exceptionally good. Their best since their debut. The addition of guest vocalists helps make it coherent. Very muscular!

very wise words here !

The Pinegrove one was weird. He didn't actually abuse anyone did he? Thought it was abuse of power because he felt bad about wanting to shag his fans at gigs?

I'll be giving this a swerve anyway, aside from a handful of (excellent, to be fair) they've done nothing of note.

Cheers @Arkle I'll be working my way through those this week!
Anybody listening to Squid in session on 6 music now ?
First I’ve heard but the tune about “in a car, in a smoke car” was excellent

They're good. Going to see them at the Scala in April.

Holy Fuck album is great, really enjoying it. Never listened to them before so gonna have a dip back into their discography the next few weeks.

Mac Miller's album is absolutely beautiful from start to finish. Woods / Hand Me Downs / That's On Me as a run of tracks is pretty special. It's gonna take something very very good to overtake that as my favourite album of the year and we're only in January. I think it might actually be to the taste of a few in here who wouldn't normally think to listen to it. Very smooth jazzy and funk instrumentals with Mac for the most part just singing over the top of it.

AJJ have announced a UK tour for the start of July and there are some very interesting venues on there. Head of Steam in Newcastle on 7th July for those of you based in the NE, and Dundee 2 days later although it might end up being the week I’m away on holiday depending on what happens this week with me and Mrs Dundee getting annual leave approved at work. Hoping it’ll be the week after we are away so I can go and drag her with me.

Probably just Andy Shauf for me from that lot. The Black Lips if I’m needing anything else, but I’m still digesting some of last week’s releases - Mac Miller, AJJ, Kiwi Jr and Anti-Flag are all very good!

Glad everyone's enjoying the Holy Fuck record. Was a good un to work on - not without its struggles but the best rarely are!

Sorry finally announced their debut album details today and the new single
