A new breed of supporters...

Course it’s not unreasonable but my point is you can’t just get rid of the current squad, you can’t just bring in a ready made whole new team that’s fit for purpose. People wanted Ross gone rightly or wrongly but then people expect a new manager to come in and everything’s rosy. In one of my previous posts I said the time for a reset was the beginning of last season but recruitment obviously wasn’t up to scratch. No new manager can come in and fix 10+ years of bad management in a month. If you take today as a fresh start. It’ll take ages to put everything in place to have a successful and functioning club. Mistakes or bad management have put us where we are. There’s no instant fix to that as much as we’d all want there to be
How did Wolves and Blackburn manage it then?

The question i keep asking myself over the last couple of years has been this, just how bad does it have to get, just how dark does it have to be before people who haven't snapped do, i think of other clubs of our size and i wonder, would they stand for everything we have had to stand for in the last 5 years, the scandal's the relegations, and other things that have come and gone.

Exactly right but you hear apologists like the OP bashing fans for complaining on a forum and several posters on this thread repeating the "abuse" lie and you have to wonder just how beaten down our support is.

We are at our lowest point in the history of the club and all some can do is slag the supporters off. How and why are they happy with things at the moment?

I think they just won't dare question the club hierarchy, whoever is in charge.
I don't accept that this board influences things. It's a minuscule of our support and doesn't represent our wider fanbase.

I used to say the same when people wanted Ross out. A few months later he was sacked. Maybe it does represent our support.

I think it's easier to put our heads in the sand and crack on like nothing is wrong but, everyone has their breaking point i think, it just depends how low the club has to go before it happens, but a nasty thought has appeared to me in recent months, in some cases, it wouldn't matter if we were in the Ebac Division 2 northern league. i maybe wrong, but i fear i am right.

Keyboard Warriors aka dickheads. There's so many because most of the time there is no consequence for their abuse.
Totally agree. I get the freedom of speech argument, but when the keyboard warriors start swearing and abusing fellow members it annoys me. A bit hypocritical here , but it’s very brave to go have hiding behind a keyboard.Cowards!

No one is suggesting that supporters cant have an opinion like. Football is a game of opinions but when those opinions become poisonous and incredibly negative it has a detrimental effect on everything. We are called supporters for a reason, we are supposed to support even in adversity.
You can support while even having an incredibly negative opinion of the team.

No one is wanting the team to lose.

Keyboard Warriors - although I use the term ‘supporters’ lightly.
I get why the doom and gloom going around as we are at our lowest ever ebb in our history
But what I don’t get is this new breed of so called supporters who seem to want us to fail
Parky was never my choice but I don’t care who is Manager so long as we get promoted
I don’t see any enjoyment in getting beat so we can get shot of another Manager
All I am reading is Parky was doomed to fail before he even Managed a single game
Parky is not going anywhere just now so get behind him and the team and you never know you might just enjoy a win
If you really enjoy getting beat so you can winge then try picking another team, there are plenty below us where you could enjoy losing even more often then we do
Just the generation we in sadly, absolutely gone to shit.. internet and social media has destroyed any well-being previously in place.. how many likes is my life worth.. pathetic.

I think this board has a huge impact on the negativity surrounding the club.

The players on the pitch don’t help either mind
Did Pure Football sell Josh Maja and replace him with Will Grigg?
Did we release Oviedo, Matthews and Cattermole - sold Honeyman and James only to replace them with weaker players?
Did we appoint Richard Hill, Tony Coton and Paul Reid to key position at the club?
Did we cut back on the academy, scouting and recruitment at the club?

It’s done mate. We can’t go back and change it. I stopped looking back after I walked into a couple of lamp posts. Then almost got run over. We can all say coulda, woulda, shoulda, but in reality these events are beyond our control. We just have to live with them.

They both got back at first attempt. So did Rotherham come to think of it. Blackburn had the Venkys. Arguably worst owners in game.
I remember Blackburn winning the premier league. They’d be doing that again if things were so simple. My point stands though, it’s easy to get into a mess. It’s more difficult to get out of it. Some teams need a change in manager/tactics/motivation to get the best out of them. I don’t think our team is capable of blowing away everyone else in this league and to change that takes time

Fans being blamed for the negativity around the club. We are negative because there isn't too many positives.

Fans have always been negative and reactionary, I’ve not said they haven’t. What I’m saying is this message board amplifies the negativity as it’s very very popular among sunderland fans. Social media these days is a huge influencer.

Complaining isn’t the issue though. Unreasonable expectations of waving a magic wand and fixing things instantly are the problem. As has been said on this thread , no one can be happy at this situation but realistically the things that are wrong with the club, ie current squad, recruitment set up, scouting, academy etc are easy to run down but can’t be fixed instantly. For a start, everyone knows the club doesn’t have money to throw at things and even if we did, financial rules don’t allow it. I really hope with the new investment, there’s a serious strategy and an identified aim. To get there, and to do it within the rules and in a way that will keep benefitting the club for years to come will take time. Some people will never be happy with that because they demand instant results
I’m sorry but that’s a cop out. To talk of unreasonable expectations and people demanding instant results is nonsense. We’ve had ‘the biggest budget in League one history’ for two seasons now and we are apparently ‘the most professional club ever to play in league one’. And yet our team is very poor, our recruitment even worse, promotion appears beyond us and we’re faced with a wholesale rebuild to fix mistakes made by the current regime - but unable to do it as we’ve once again got an oversized squad that’s full of players that nobody else would want, much less afford. None of this is mitigated by patience or time. If things are bad and you need to fix the mistakes of previous owners it’s generally a bad idea to pile up a load of your own on top. Safc’s problems are not going to be fixed by fans showing patience. They’ll be fixed by the owners finally showing some basic football competence - or getting out of the way for someone else who can.
