Tin hat on. Is SD with his limited resources as much of a victim of the total calamity of mismanagement of this club over the last decade as you and me, the dedicated fans, rather than being part of the disaster. Discuss.

Nobody is answering the question though ?

Nope, he’s had 100% say on what should and shouldn’t happen, and is solely responsible for what has happened under his watch.

Culturally there’s a North East problem with the types of players we can attract, but he should know that.

Ultimately, he’s playing with his own money here (how he financed us is irrelevant as the cash is his now) and I’m fairly sure he’s not doing his best to lose any of it, so fingers crossed it comes good long term.

he's spectacularly overplayed his hand and over-promised while simultaneously depleting the playing squad to its lowest ebb ever...

so, no he isn't.

Nah no for me personally. He claimed to financially aware of the state of the club and regardless of that he believed he could turn it around. I’m not disputing he’s attempted to do the right thing but deep down he knew he had nowhere near enough resources
SD got involved voluntarily, after (supposedly) doing due diligence on the club prior to buying. So no, he's not a victim.

100% this! he was aware of what resources he had available to him and as a successful businessman I’d expect he has planned for worst case scenario when buying the club, we are potentially approaching this point and currently it looks like he’s ran to the hills and hid.

I honestly believe his intentions to make the team better were true and there, but he’s never had nowhere near enough money to pull this off. Unfortunately if this is the case, he’s got absolutely nobody but himself to blame.

OK so imo:

He misled everyone as to how he bought the club
He misled everyone as to how much he paid for the club.
He had to come out at the start of last season (after an article in the paper) and admit he was looking for a loan, despite telling us all we had the the championship envious of our budget.
He tried to hide he took 10 million from the club until it was reported by the Daily Mail. After it was highlighted by the DM he focused more on denying the amount he paid (I think the DM said 40 and he was furious they hadn't said 38 even though he had paid about 6) in an attempt to do the very attention from the cash that had been taken out of the club.
He misled everyone over whether this 10 million would be paid back or not with him saying it would, and Methven saying it wouldn't.
He's spent his whole time here taking about openness despite providing all this misleading information.
Delayed accounts filing date so everyone will need to wait longer to see what our finances are actually like because nobody has any idea bar boasts about 'best finances in the football league' despite not being able to afford to fix a lift.
When he was questioned on twitter about this missing 10 million he went on a 'twitter break'.
He's not attending RAWA meetings, as hasn't done since the initial one.
He's sacked the scouting department and hasn't employed replacements.
He's hired people who failed numerous times at a conference side having failed there himself. Something he apologised for in his leaving statement there.
Handled the Maja situation appallingly.
Totally f***ing up the Grigg transfer after making numerous derisory offers then waiting till after he sold Maja, and had no other fit striker in the squad, to be held to ransom.
Paid off Cattermole despite claiming for a year he doesn't need to offload high earners.
Put the whole summer on hold until takeover talks with Campbell broke down having paraded him about Wembley.
Sacked a manager, not because of his poor record or because the fans wanted him out, but because another takeover had failed and had been reported 40 minutes prior, and he wanted to deflect attention away. He woudn't even wait to announce it as had been agreed with Ross to allow him time to tell his family first.
Totally bailed when things went wrong and people started to question his intentions due to many of the issues above, citing 'fan abuse' as another way to deflect.
Appointed a new manager based on (in Charlie's words) references and 'because he kept Colchester in the championship' despite never managing Colchester in the championship, but more likely to down to wages.
Took a loan out with close brothers in SAFC name when that 10 could have been paid back instead?
Has had 10 million paid into Maddrox (not safc) from an American consortium but is refusing to give any information on it. Methven has stated it is private between FPP and Maddrox and fans will never know about it.
Touted out youth players to get compo packages.
Recruitment has totally failed and he thinks the people running it are doing an incredible job.

Off the top of my head.

I mean he couldn't even be honest about the colour of the shorts last season. Even the club shop staff were saying they weren't allowed to say because either could be worn, despite wearing black every home game but selling red ones with the home mini kits.

Other than that he's got us in good stead!

Spot on and in someway reflects my view... he was over ambitious for the resources he had. Not flush by club owner standards - maybe naive? His intentions were good... but he got involved over his head. Not sure he deserves the level of vitriol he’s getting when he is only part of the major car crash which started well down the road.

I don't think he's done anything of note apart from cut and dilute anything of quality. Takeover, hire an employment lawyer and sack players on strike, pay off want away players, hire on the cheap, sign on the cheap, replace seats on the cheap, replace manager on the cheap, cut essential staff on the cheap. Cheap cheap cheap

He's a victim of the club not getting promoted last season. Had we gone up he'd have been in a good position to make lots of money out of something he seemingly has put very little money in to.
