New Music Releases Thread

The Drahla singles are interesting enough to give that a punt, too. Unusual vibe to those. Intrigued.

Have to say, I must be the only person on here not "getting" Aldous Harding. I really wanted to turn it off about 4 or 5 in, but I stuck it out to the end, thinking something was bound to happen. Hated it. Quite a surprisingly visceral reaction to something that, on the face of it to me, sounded so low-key, dull, and single-speeded (that single speed being very slow), yet made me want to punch someone for listening to it.

Nope, me neither.

Hello mate... I’ve released an album this week too. It would be good if you were to review it.

I’ve been working on it for about two year (not full time obviously) but I’ve done it all myself. Wrote it, played all the instruments, recorded it and produced it... all from my spare room.

It’s on all streaming sites and iTunes:

DGKyle
Seams

Let me know if you get a chance to have a listen through. Best enjoyed through headphones.
Only heard 'Seams' so far, but liking it. Well done

Lot to like there, can definitely see myself coming back to this!

vocals are VERY bon iver which as said is not a bad thing just bound to be a lot of comparisons to come which might make it a bit tougher to stand out for yourself.

Sounds really great though for a home produced album, really shows how far we've come.

Thanks mate, appreciate the feedback.

f***ing brilliant. It was such a great experience. I really enjoyed your album, I've shared it with my friends as well. I wish you the very best in your journey, you deserve success.
Thanks mate, really appreciate it.

I still can't get fuckin Alexa to play it. Is it definitely on Amazon Music?
Cheers for your efforts mate. I hope it’s worth it for you

This week’s stuff:

Gregg Graffin really is too smart for his own good. I know he has a machine like the Bob Mould machine @jacko100 alluded to, where he hits a button and a Bad Religion song comes out, but if you like what they do there really isn’t anyone that can get near them. A cracking, long-overdue album.

Wildhearts – thoroughly enjoyed that, too. I’d completely forgotten about them and probably haven’t heard them in 25 years. Didn’t recall them having a social conscience.

Drahla – pleased Chunky singled this one out – I’d not heard of them, but listened to a couple of singles yesterday and made a point of listening to the album today. It’s good stuff – I can hear the post punk in there but they go way off the map in places and it’s a very interesting listen.

Filthy Friends – four tracks in. Lyrically a little odd – is it a concept album or something? The first couple seemed to be loosely about the environment. I like the tunes, though, but.

Gigs – I’m still not liking the Mountain Goats album but the songs were much better live. They’re an excellent live turn, but I think their recorded output is going the journey based on the past couple – the best songs were definitely old stuff.

White Lies were surprisingly good last night – surprised because I don’t think they’ve done anything anywhere near the first track on the first album. Another band whose music seems to fair much better live. I’ll revisit their album from last month.

Lemonheads tomorrow – won’t know until stage time – as always it’ll be up to which Dando turns up as to whether it’ll be a cracking show or a shambolic mess…prior experience tends to have me expecting the latter, but hoping for a former bonus
