So, I've already mentioned Morbo's album, which is totally bostin'. Beyond that:
Aldous Harding - she's made the move properly from quirky folk type to full on lyrical loon. Musically, it's brilliant and the lyrics are ace and bonkers.
King Gizzo and the Lizzo Wizzo - it's less overtly rock than some of their stuff. Really enjoying it. We need more songs with Boogie in the name.
Marissa Nadler & Stephen Brodsky - I'm filing this under interesting. The cover of Morphine's "In Spite of Me" is great. Morphine should have been much more famous. Anyway, rest of the album needs more listens.
Altın Gün - Turkish folk songs done in a psychedelic style. Does what it says on the tin. Very good! Turkey is the new Sweden/Iceland/Canada/Portugal.
Guided By Voices - they do two types of albums. The ones with 24 songs in 37 minutes that have things on them that you think are brilliant but wish lasted longer and the ones with 24 songs in 80 minutes that have things on them that you think are brilliant but wish were a little shorter. This is of the former type.
Craig Finn - lyrically, as usual marvellous. Musically, as with his previous solo albums, it's a bit one paced. Not quite ballads, not quite rockers.
Foxygen - it's had some poor reviews but I think it's quite good. Best song sounds like a Springsteen pastiche. They're getting more and more cabaret.
Josh Ritter - produced by Jason Isbell with The 400 Unit used as his band, which might interest
@Mickdundee. It's a very good album.
Danni Nicholls - my not quite new album choice for the week. Got a cracking review in Uncut, quite rightly. Kind of soulful Americana from someone from the UK. Seems like a talent!
The Mountain Goats - for me, on early listening, it's not one of their best. All seems a bit low key and one paced.
Parekh & Singh - pretty good. If you're interested in hearing what the best Swedish style indiepop band from India are like give it a wallop.
Josefin Öhrn + The Liberation - Öhrno (as I call her) has come up with the goods again. Really, really, really good! The usual slightly psych, slightly Krautrock, slightly several other things mix. Maybe a bit more festival crowd compatible than the previous couple of albums.
