Chester-le-Street

He died 3 or 4 years ago sadly.

Is Jack the Hat still on the go? He used to sit on the bench outside Social Services (between The Back Horse and Lambton for those who use the Tavern Coordinates method) and drink cider. My mate was inspired to write a song about him.

Then Mad Ginge. Used to live with his mother off Roman Avenue. Always wore a white cap and blue jeans. Crackers him. I think he moved up towards Bournmoor and the latest generation of younguns call jinn Ginger Joe.

Then there was another lad who carried a ghetto blaster around and wore a big top hat.
Yes I knew the ginger lad. My parents, well father now lives in roman avenue so we saw him about for decades. Long dead.
Jack the hat long dead. It was he who slept in the skip when they did the lambton bar out.

some more old names for you, Harry Fenny, Willy Dover the Huffas,Nobby, Birkbeck, Davey Dixon, and Cressy
The huffas now that’s a blast from the past

What happened to them?

The lad with the ghetto blaster?

Might be Steven rennison. He lives off Ropery lane.

That last name rings a bell

1 huffa dead, heart attack at wheel...the other?
dont know Rennison

Scott? We know him well. He plays cricket with the bairn at cls cc although we haven’t seen much of him recently as he is concentrating on his football. Know his dad Justin well.
Aye, he's a good player, not afraid to get stuck in given his size. Scored a great headed goal his Uncle Bryan would have been proud of

Used to get called E wing. Gunter and his elder brother used to be in (the poacher), Ruly, Doddsy, just full of wrong'uns tbh but all good lads in their own way.

Not the one with a certain person and a gun is it?

Just remembered Gug was the younger brother and Gunter the older one who was always out poaching then trying to sell his gains in the Lambton Bar.

Aye, knocked about with Reub Healer

Both Bobby and Reub were top lads.

One Friday night me, my mate and Sid were waiting for the last Consett bus when a dickhead from Pelton and a couple of others came over and started threatening the other lad claiming he had been seeing his lass (probably true:lol:).
Sid happened to see his mate Ted (now dead I think) coming out of The Bridge and shouted,"How Ted gan get a squad".Within 30 secs there were 10 likely lads with Billy Daniels at the head marching over the road. Needless to say the dickhead and his mates legged it in the style of Usain Bolt.
That'll have been Teddy Thompson, cracking lad but sound as a pound once you got to know him but another one who's passed away. Me and him had some right ding dongs in the beginning over football with him being a staunch mag but we became decent mates in the end. Mutual mate win John Diamond who is salt of the earth.

Knew most of them, the Huffas were always wild when younger, Birbeck has always been edgy. Cressy was a good lad but then seemed to turn all gypo.

Died last year used to live in my street
Gutted to hear about Ray, smashing bloke and a hard lad in his day. Used to go out with Victoria the black woman from Africa, always having ding dongs. She smacked him over the head with a hammer once so he sparked her out.

See all you lads at Moor Park on Friday night 7.30 ? See the next generation of the Robson football family

Chester v Birtley a traditional Friday night fixture up and down the street, I'm a turncoat, Birtley lad who used to get hassle off CLS arseholes in Crocs but now live in the town and follow the team :D

Birtley or Barley Mow? Did you know Speedy, Fordy, Ray and Trev the bus driver?

Think Ray was suffering from Dementia, everyone always thought that the black lass was a prostitute

Pubs, betting shops and takeaways that’s all that’s there now

You've forgotten the charity shops mind.:D

Me mam said that it also used to be a tea and dance hall back in the day

It was.
It belonged to Graves the Bakers...they used to do lovely cream cakes.:D

I can remember she used to dance with a pint balanced on her head.

She was a canny wife but crackers. She'd survived a coup in one of the African countries although her body was covered in either gunshot wounds or stab wounds, can't remember which. She'd been left for dead but survived then end up coming to the UK and ended up with Ray. Your cousin Ray Scott was good mates with them both and will know the full details.

Birtley, knew Fordy from school though, until I'm sure he got expelled - think it's him celebrating behind the goal at the landfill when we scored in the game where away fans were banned
Sounds like him tbf.

Peter Ford? Worked with his brother Kenny he just used to shake his head about him :D
Aye Peter, I just knew who he was but didn't actually know him. He was good mates with my mate, Speedy Dobson.

I know Franco. Massive lads fan. Haven’t seen his brother in decades mind.

Franco knocks about with searsy another safc fan. Both top lads.

Johnny sometimes gets in the Lambton when there's a ska/soul night on or a decent ska band. Was in there about 6 months back when I was in with Nash.
