More LGBT Offended Nonsense

When Ideology takes preference over empirical and scientific reality, there are problems. This is the dilemma of the whole "transgender issue" right now.

These things are not advocated as much by those who are inclined to be transgender themselves or even the question of giving people these rights, but namely liberal ideologues whom are advocating it so strongly as a form of identity that it passes reality itself.

Those who feel to be women may identify as such, but the biological reality that they are in a man’s body cannot be ignored for the sake of political correctness.

It's not political correctness. Scientists have known that gender isn't binary M/F for decades.
Anatomy Does Not Determine Gender, Experts Say

There are two sets of human bodies. They are different in their physical characteristics. What one "chooses" to be does not change that.
It's not about choice. If it were a choice, no-one would choose to be trans as they tend to have a massively higher number of health problems than cis people, not to mention the blatant discrimination they face in everyday life.

But in sports, we have to be honest. It isn’t discrimination to enforce a fair competition. Even most of this board’s most hardcore liberals agree with that.

In some cases the mental health problems probably lead to people becoming trans, rather than causing mental health problems

The Father Ted writer, Graham Linehan (@glinner), is worth following on Twitter. Almost single-handedly among the 'celeb' brigade he's been taking on the trans-bullies. He and his family have been harassed, and he's even been given a police warning, basically for arguing his viewpoint with the trans extremists (Graham Linehan given police warning after complaint by transgender activist).

His timeline is frightening. He cites dozens of examples of women (mainly) being summarily banned from Twitter for calling someone a 'he' when they identify as a 'she'. (Some of these 'shes' have beards, FFS).

Most celebs with blue-tick accounts have been keeping their heads well below the parapet on this issue, no matter how strongly they feel about it. The moment they engage in the debate - as Navratilova has - they're harassed, both online and in the real world. Linehan is currently trying to organize a group of celebs to take on the issue together.

But for now, the establishment - the BBC, the Met and other police services, Twitter, and all the major political parties - seem to be backing the trans activists, to the extent that they won't even allow debate on the issue. Just this week the BBC ran a story about toxic shock from tampons in which they managed to exclude any mention of 'women', which increasingly is becoming a controversial term.

I agree with you, but the part about the BBC not using the term,"women" is not true. It is even in their headline here from December

Recall after tampons 'unravel' during use

Well I do agree with that, which I said a few pages back. Although I'm not sure how to involve trans people in sport...a trans woman has physical differences to a cis woman but she isn't a man so can't compete with the male athletes, either.

In some cases the mental health problems probably lead to people becoming trans, rather than causing mental health problems
I think that's a pretty baseless claim but I'd be interested to know if there have been any cases of that whatsoever.

I find it extremely difficult to believe that the high numbers of mental health problems are associated with discrimination of trans people. Much more likely that many think they're trans due to their mental health state.

It was a specific recent piece on the BBC3 website: 'I nearly died from toxic shock syndrome and never used a tampon' - BBC Three . Men are mentioned, but women are 'people' or 'people who menstruate'.

There's no blanket policy that I'm aware of at the BBC, but in certain enclaves it's creeping in as editorial policy.

Play sport at a non competitive level. Solved.

I'm not going to suggest that activists on the trans side aren't going over the top. However I would say that Linehan's side of the argument have been needlessly confrontational from the start imho. The state of modern debate I suppose

It's crackers, in sports where how your body is made up matters it shouldn't be allowed. No reason why F1, darts, snooker etc genders shouldn't compete together though

Some of the fittest athletes on the planet are F1 drivers. Women don't stand much of a chance in one of those cars against men due to the incredible stresses the body is put through during a race. Snooker and darts I agree with, you don't need any strength or stamina for those two

Yes you do need strength but in other ways.

That's an example of where you don't need a rule. Motor racing has multiple levels and if a woman can't make the grade at a certain level she just won't get a drive
