Bids have gone in (None of which anybody knows the offers) already. January window not ideal for all this shit, but apparently Bordeaux are after a striker, and even they haven't signed him yet, so hold your horses. Chelsea still to sign Higuain as well. Everything is always left late in football. Let's just hope we can get certain/the right deals over the line

True yeah, it’s tough though mate, such a pivotal moment in our season this

f***ing Bordeaux man

Last we see of Josh. Well we might see him when he signa for a lower league club in 3 year when his contract expires

Yeah definitely think they wanted to sell him this window. No other reason to publically declare the deadline. Fair enough setting it privately but making it public was just bizzare. Creates an unnecessary situation. Already been through all this anyways and it was split opinion so yknar.

For the millionth time:
We approached Maja for a new contract.
He agreed and we negotiated with his agent.
We offered to meet his every demand including the wage he asked for, renegotiation if we were promoted and a release clause if we didn't.
Once we tabled the offer his agent stopped taking our phone calls.

The deadline was set because the agent hadn't spoken to the club for 2 weeks and was ignoring phone calls and emails.

He's the one we really need to keep hold of.

He wants to stay so we ain’t doing something right, hope we ain’t offering him pittance. Players like him are the future of our club

Wonder if they're seeing where we are next season. Which is kind of odd as none of them are first team regulars yet. Agents in the ear?

Won’t be the case with Hume and Embleton from what I understand.

Why the hell would I blame short. Had all season to get this sorted? When you get a club debt free these are the things you get sorted.
 Who put in place the previous players contracts, listen to the podcasts it was all explained on there by Donald. The club had been putting players through the Academy but not tying them down with a contract. How is this Donald’s fault?

Certainly a better lifestyle. From a footballing perspective it's a good opportunity if he's playing & from a lifestyle perspective he's going to have a much better time in Bordeux. Meant to be a completely different culture to training and that abroad too. His family are London based so can't imagine he has any ties to stay up here.
It's an absolute no brainer. Good luck to the lad. Agent has done his job as well. Got him more money, in a better league with better lifestyle and seemingly more chances of top flight action than he would have got in the Premier League.
It's tough on us but we need to learn from the calamitous Short reign and get our house in order. People think we've lost a future Messi ffs. Think back to Bridges, we cried when we got £5 million for him and he was effectively finished inside 2 years.
Maja is a finisher but theres a hell of a lot missing from his game to make a top top striker. He's as weak as piss, he's not fast, he won't win aerial battles. Move on lads n lasses.

What if we sign someone more involved with general play though, who troubles defenders a bit more with some strength or runs in behind with pace but doesn't convert as clinically and isn't quite as good technically like one of those? those things could create more openings and chances which we're not getting with Maja.

People making out Maja is some kind of player you would be unable to replace just because he's a clinical finisher and tidy with the ball at his feet. In truth he's often unwilling to run in behind as he hasn't got pace, is too weak against many centre halfs (normal given age and development) which can make us easy to play against as everything is in front of them and can be pretty much useless if you don't play the ball into his feet in the box. Players like David Healy were really good finishers at the same kind of level and tidy but couldn't make the step up due to not having enough in their game and I don't think Maja has got anything more at the moment.

Don’t know how any club in England can get on without Maja in their side...? Draw the curtains...

If people are scared, they should get a dog.

Donald said this started in September/October. He probably had quite a bit going on all Summer. Maja was completely unproven so probably wasn’t too of the priority list.

Some fair points but scoring a goal is the hardest thing to do in football

You can’t just say he’s just a finisher, it’s the hardest skill in football

Have we sold him like?

I think it's worth doing if he wants to go as near end of contract and 2m in this league could get us a good replacement and another midfielder.
