We haven't created lots of chances , no matter who has been playing up front. To suggest that getting a less prolific striker will mean we create more chances for other players is a ridiculous premise that Wyke and Sinclair playing confounds. The reason we don't create many chances lies in CM, not who is playing up front.

Champion. Leadbitter will sort that.

It's pointless talking to you, you're only going to look at the negative.

It's unlikely we're going to find someone with the conversion rate of Maja. If we sign someone like Eaves, or Marquis, or Moore, unless we suddenly start creating two or three times as many chances, we're going to be screwed.

Maja... 15 goals from 33 attempts.
Moore... 13 goals from 61 attempts.
Eaves... 14 goals from 57 attempts.

What if we sign someone more involved with general play though, who troubles defenders a bit more with some strength or runs in behind with pace but doesn't convert as clinically and isn't quite as good technically like one of those? those things could create more openings and chances which we're not getting with Maja.

People making out Maja is some kind of player you would be unable to replace just because he's a clinical finisher and tidy with the ball at his feet. In truth he's often unwilling to run in behind as he hasn't got pace, is too weak against many centre halfs (normal given age and development) which can make us easy to play against as everything is in front of them and can be pretty much useless if you don't play the ball into his feet in the box. Players like David Healy were really good finishers at the same kind of level and tidy but couldn't make the step up due to not having enough in their game and I don't think Maja has got anything more at the moment.

Apart from making him into the player he is
Ok then so if we are taking all the credit for making him player he is are we also taking the blame for the countless amounts who we haven’t helped make the grade?

The club has cut countless players adrift over the years if it’s felt they aren’t worth the bother.

Can’t have it all ways.

People underestimate his conversion rate. It's exceptional. Been saying it on here all season. Kept meaning to dig stats out but have been forgetting. Thanks for posting.

We need someone who runs in behind that's for sure. Obviously what they thought they were getting with Sinclair

We have had Wyke, Sinclair and Maja playing up front. We have struggled to create chances, no matter who has been up front. The problem lies in CM. It always has.

It's been clear as day it's exceptional, but whilst anyone should be able to see that why doesn't he contribute more The side hin general play given he's technically quite decent? You could easily argue the side hasn't functioned that well partly because of his lack of physique and movement at times.

It’s so poor, that could cost us promotion

Very disappointed in the owners and failed their first test for me

If you want to attack me for that view go ahead, don’t care.

They’re being naive beyond belief.

Someone Like Benji perhaps

So you’d keep a player who doesn’t want to play for us, what do you think his attitude would be like?
His attitude has been good so far and I haven’t seen anything to suggest that would change. If he kept playing well scoring goals I wouldn’t care if he wanted to leave in the summer. He’d know that the better he played for us, the better deal he could get in the summer.

I know he is probably going to leave but there is no point deluding ourselves that this is a good deal for us. It is just a further indictment of Short’s disastrous time here.

gave 100% till the end, shame he isn't staying but no hard feelings, just hope we get someone in quick, that is called rational thinking everyone :)

Maximizing his money in a career that's short at the best and could be over in a blink at worst........it's football these days
I have no issues with that, it’s more about honesty, I can only go from what jack Ross and Stewart Donald have said but he’s repeatedly told them he wants to stay, it’s dragged on and on and now he doesn’t want to play for us anymore? Guys an arsehole

Disappointing to lose him but it's the reality of where we are at the moment. No hard feelings from me towards him, hope he goes on and has a good career.

I've also got faith that the owners will replace him adequately, just hope whoever that is can hit the ground running. If not, can the real Charlie Wyke please stand up?

We've scored one goal in the league direct from a corner, I believe, that is absolutely shocking for a team that gets as many as us in a game. If for example we brought say Eaves and Grigg in, Eaves would be an instant threat from set pieces, Grigg would hopefully be a finisher from open play. His stats in this league would say so. Plus someone like Eaves would be able to bring others in to play, more so that Wyke would. He's got an Andy Carroll type build. And he'd be a help in our box from opposition set pieces.
Imo.
