Baby Killed

What sort of idiots leave dogs alone with children, regardless of how well behaved they usually are?
Don’t have a dog but could it not be as simple as going to the loo, or getting the bottle after a sleep deprived night and not remembering to take the dog with you?

Not too sure, I have dogs but not kids, maybe going to the toilet but doubt this would have happened in that time, I'd assume the dogs were left with the kid for a longer period of time, I highly doubt they just got up and ripped the kid to bits as soon as an adult left the room. The second 1 though would be unforgivable regardless of how tired you are in my opinion. If you can't look after both then you have a decision to make

I’m just saying that was the connection

I was replying to your post regarding Alonso
The other lad said Alonso had killed some kids in a car crash. He then almost instantly realised he'd mixed him up with another player and took that back. I didn't know he'd killed anybody, kids or adults and that's what I said.. Not that a football player killing anybody has anything to do with a baby being mauled by two dogs mind.

Don’t know what anyone sees in Staffies anyway.

For a start they’re pug ugly, those massive jaws have been bred for one reason and one reason only,
they’re a handful to hang on to when they’re out and repeatedly threatening other dogs, as well as the risk of them killing or maiming even adults, as well as bairns.

Owners say they’re friendly and peaceable, though obviously that’s far from always being the case.
In any events there’s any amount of other breeds that make fine household pets, with nothing like the same degree of risk as with Staffies.

Hopefully it’s just a matter of time before there’s a law against breeding them.
When restrictions were first applied to American Bull terriers, some were stupid enough to think there was no longer a big risk with similar breeds.
However sadly the exact opposite has proved to be the case.

When I saw the local rescue centres loaded with them, that spoke volumes to me and my own experience with them as well as their owners tells much the same story.

Tip for small dog owners. If a Staffy gets a grip on your dog, restrain the Staffy to prevent it shaking your dog to pieces. When you have it under your control you'll still not be able to force it to let go. Punching it, kicking it, even gouging its eyes will not work. If you have a pen, a pencil, a twig, owt like that stick it up its arse, it'll let go immediately. I've twice rescued small dogs using this method. The last time it happened over here I was really struggling to hold the Staffy still, I was beginning to tire and couldn't reach anything to use, the old dear who owned the small dog was in bits. Thankfully a teenager walked by and I asked him to fetch a twig over as there were a few scattered on the lawn outside the library. When I asked him to stick it up its arse the look on his face was priceless. Fair play to the kid though he did so and we rescued the old ladies dog. While it wasn't exactly a pleasant experience the way it ended was quite funny. By the time we'd freed the dog a few passers by had gathered, one of whom phoned a taxi to take the dog to the local vets. Taxi arrives, the dog is handed over and the taxi roars off. As it vanished down the road I happened to turn around and spotted the old dear, all alone, completely forgotten sat on a low wall, shaking like a leaf and in floods of tears. :)

Me and the other half ...no... run a dog rescue charity here in Spain. Extremely abused dogs are rescued and it takes the two of us with great patience normally anything between six months and two years to get them normalised. That's a lot of work , a lot of patience.

Any thick kernt that leaves, or tries to raise two staffies along with a baby in a flat needs kicking.
In a flat.
With no room to roam. No place to express their natural behaviour, so caged and frustrated, maddened, then they are put in a room with a competitor.
5 weeks old.
And nature takes it's course because they are animals.
Dogs are animals.
Why are the owners so thick.
I´d argue they deserve a manslaughter charge at least.

Owners should be held accountable for the behaviour of their pets in the same way as parents should be held accountable for the behaviour of their kids.

They should be charged as though they had committed the crime themselves.

This is it. I have the softest dog in the world, but no way did I ever leave her alone with the baby when very young. Always a chance it could try sleeping next to it...jumping on it or breathing issues etc.

Wouldn’t dream of leaving any dog, regardless of breed alone with a baby.

This entirely. It happens time and time again with babies and you can't blame the dogs. We always had Staffies when I was young and they're bloody lovely dogs but I'd never leave them alone with small children as I wouldn't with any dog.

Ive got a 9 year old greyhound, the most placid dog you could ever meet. Shes great with kids. But I still wouldnt leave her alone with a bairn, just in case of that 1 in a million chance of her flipping happened.
