New Music Releases Thread

Maybe I should e posting this in the “Geordies you like” thread, but I just found out that Ginger Wildheart released a new album today.

From the little research I’ve done I believe it was originally done through PledgeMusic about a year ago with profits going to the Samaritans and this is the “proper” release.

It’s very good. He’s gone in a country-rock/folk-rock direction and it works well. Appears to be a mental health concept album.

I’m enjoying Buffalo Tom today. The Breeders is the last of Friday’s releases on my list.

Neko Case and Pennywise both announced new albums today. Case out 1 June, Pennywise 20 April. One pre-order track from each on all of the usual streaming sites.

Tomorrow's new releases: Albert Hammond Jr, August Greene (hiphop supergroup featuring Common), David Byrne, Editors, Gengahr, Erasure, Judas Priest, Ministry, Myles Kennedy, Nap Eyes, Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats, Of Montreal, The Fratellis, Young Fathers, Eric Chenaux and Hailu Mergia

A huge bunch of meh there

Probably AHJ, Nap Eyes and Nathaniel Rateliff

Have I ever ranted about how much I hate Of Montreal?

The Hailu Meriga album was last week btw

I’m hoping David Byrne lives up to my expectations.Young Fathers are supporting LCD at all points east I’m off to so I’ll give that a whirl.

This week I’ve been listening to the debut by Raf Rundel. It’s a bit of everything from Hip Hop, funk, electronica. Well worth a listen.

AHJ, August Greene, Judas Priest and (if I get time) Myles Kennedy for me.

Not sure what I’ll think of August Greene as I’ve read it’s more of an RnB direction than Common’s usual output.

Young Fathers are absolutely brilliant.

To be honest it’s not really my thing, couldn’t get into last album. Saw them at sage for 6 music fest and whilst enjoyed their energy and stage presence, musically it just didn’t do it.
I’ll give this a go and hopefully the penny will drop.

Been looking forward to Young Fathers for ages, one of my favourite bands of this decade. Quite liked Gengahr's first record even if it is a bit teen dreamy pop so will give that one a listen. August Greene and maybe Editors as well.

Common's still rapping, it's just Glasper's production is more in the mould of Anderson .Paak or someone like that. The other producer has worked with Common dozens of times before so it's not shifting too much I don't think. Be is probably my favourite Common album where he's rapping on top of Kanye's soul beats, not sure it'll be much different to that sound.
