And have those who won't want to send their kids roundly whipped?

You see school trips on the tube everyday, the teachers make themselves known to the station staff and then are escorted down onto the platform, the train dispatcher or driver are informed and the train doesn't leave until a staff member signals to show they are all on board, the opposite happens at the destination.
I have cycled through greenwich, southwark, lambeth, newham, tower hamlets and hackney amongst other boroughs after finishing a late shift and nothing bad has ever happened and they are probably up in the top roughest boroughs for crime.
@Schwarzy is clearly just someone without any sense of reality, more accidents happen in the home and in major crime the majority of victims actually know the offender. @Mackem Al has the vast experience of kings cross and euston, not exactly well travelled.
Of note is that people who live in london or visit regularly say it is no problem, says it all really.

no doubt but its a right of passage to have a trip away with mates away from parents
i know i know. we went to London for a few days for a rugby tournament in y7. i'll never forget the mass murderball game we played on richmond green after we got our hands on a slab of fosters :lol::lol: safe to say the first aid kit was used

Just a straw poll as I'm proper fummin about something!

If you had a child in Year 6 (age 10-11), would you be willing to send them on a school trip to London? It would include travelling down by train, staying in a Youth Hostel for two nights and visiting popular tourist attractions by Tube.
Turn again Whittington, didn't do Dick any harm.

Cannit wait to come up and see me daughter again in 3 weeks time. When she got a place at stage school in London had absolutely nee qualms about her going there, even as a little bit of a wet-behind-the-ears 18yo.

I was happy for her to go and have paid the deposit. It's now been cancelled as not enough children want to go in case they get blown up by terrorists.

Really sad state of affairs. I'd have no qualms about mine going to London with the school. It's a great place and she'd have a great time.
There's risk in crossing the road, what are people going to do, keep their kids locked indoors all day?

Spot on.

Our eldest went skiing in both the last two years of primary. What an experience for her and her mates. They absolutely loved it.

We weren't worried as I don't think you can buy muslamic ray guns in Italy.

They take a set of bright yellow tabards and baseball caps as well so they are easily spotted in a crowd. I've seen pictures of past year groups on the tube with their yellow hats on.

She will soon get away from that though. Being in London will give her opportunities that nowhere else in the country can offer, including how to read arabic street signs

tbf they are a million miles better than they used to be. used to be grumpy as anything. the training has certainly paid off. Turning point was 2012 and the Olympics... as if a switch had been turned on regarding customer service.
