Finished now after nearly two months. Great game, easily best assassins creed so far.

Only minor gripe is a lack of a progress menu to show you items you haven’t done yet.

There is a bare bones progress menu is in the Ubisoft Club section and anything you've completed shows up on the Map with a gold border.
 
Does the combat improve?? This is the first game I've bought since Ezio and whilst it seems promising so far I don't like the combat at all.

What do you mean improve? It doesn't really change. It gets easier as you level up and get better weapons, and there are different types of weapons but it's basically the same. It's totally different to all previous AC games, more of a RPG along the lines of withcher etc than a classic AC game.

Took me a good few scraps to get the hang of parrying and using the shield - wasn't required earlier on with the softer soldiers so I was just slashing away like a tit. Anly up to about level to about level 22 and I think just getting started as the main story goes but been immersing meself with a load of side quests - really enjoying it now like. Quite like the level up system but upgrading legendary weapons is a bit expensive.
