Electricity Bill Hike

Use moneysupermarket to find yourself the best deal, I was offered a job at a company running an EconomyEnergy campaign and they seemed to be very competitive.

You sure? That was the cheapest tariff going as of last week.

Just checked and you're right. If you double your gas usage, it goes up by £15 per month. I might stop telling the wife to turn the heating down if it makes that little difference!! The one I'm on is no longer available.

Fixed price deal up at the end of November.

Just signed an 18 month fixed price deal with Green Network Energy for £48/month Dual Fuel

They were 2nd cheapest that came up, cheapest had awful Customer Service reviews (can't remember who they were now!)

Mine was up to, moved to Ovo on a two year deal. More expensive than the fix I cam out of, but usage should go down with the house not always being occupied these days, so hoping to stay at around £70pm.

Same here, slightly up from the last fix and a 12 month deal was cheaper still but we're off travelling next year and the son is looking after the place for us so we didn't want him or us having to sort it out while we're away.

Kettle uses next to no energy typically. That's how those meters can be misleading.
They do but it's only for short blasts I have an instant kettle thst does a cup at I time so more efficient than say boiling 2 pints of water in a kettle

It's a new build and they did too much of a good job with the insulation... Must be the only person on the estate who has the window open in winter. Prefer a bit chill in the air

I used to spend next to nowt when I lived alone like. Most years I was in profit. I miss those days.

Aye, I know one lad (idiot) who went out and bought an instant kettle thinking it would save him money.:lol::lol:

He didn't realise the cost of the instant kettle would far outweigh the cost savings.

No more than a decent kettle mate It's about being easy to use ie cup press button and a cup of hot water. I've seen kettles for twice the money I paid for the instant kettle.

The Tories were meant to cap energy increases but they publicly announced they had delayed it 6 months.
Some think this was a warning to energy companies to increase their bills now, so that when the 6 months is up, the Tories then introduce the cap. the energy companies would have already done a huge increase. Win for the Tories
Win for the energy companies
Lose for the customer

Fair enough, the lad I know, replaced a working kettle because he saw how much it made his smart meter go up. Knacker would stand there making several single cups at a time when we were round.

Capping costs would probably lead to increases for the more savvy.
