Homophobia

Heard Gareth Thomas, the rugby lad who is openly gay, on the radio talking about how rife homophobia is in football, chants at every game. Got to say I've never heard a homophobic chant at a match-am I just sheltered or is there a lot of it at matches.

Implication of what he's saying is that footballers are too scared to come out as being gay because of the abuse they'd receive from the terraces.

It's 2017, surely nobody gives a shit whether a player is gay or not.
I've never heard a homo song, not even once. For 99.99% of us we don't care. Exaggerated shit.

Hmm !!

A rugby player who goes to "every " football game.

He's a liar

Nice accusation there.

Is calling Gareth Bale a chimp or saying Peter Reid looks like a monkey racist? Because they would be if it was aimed at black person

Dual standards.
It stinks.

Mischief makers know no boundaries

Quick question for you mate... Was any of the comments in your second to last paragraph come from Palace fans?

Gareth Thomas was posting on HOL pretty much accusing Palace fans of being deeply homophobic due to our rivalry and invited fans taking tbe piss out of his comments for "a chat" to discuss our homophobia, even private messaging some.

Can see Palace being hung out to dry in the documentary.
No, not really.

I know you like to sing the "we scored 5, they scored none" song, but am yet to talk to any of ours that are offended by it. Obviously I don't speak for all Brighton fans here mind.

Millwall fans were worst, no surprise there, but Barnsley and Portsmouth were real eye openers.

Between us, it's just pure hatred of eachother whatever background, ethnicity, orientation you are.

Ignore him, he's f***ing mental. On another thread he wanted to have a minutes silence for people who hadn't even died

Or the person who had died outside the Mosque you prick.

Nice accusation there.

Aye, its exactly the same

Couldn't of worded it better me self. Ganin to the match with a load of youngens calling them the 'Scraftons under 5's', what a f***ing clip.
Who are yous talking about?

Agree about 'not going on about it' but if posters wish to discuss issues related to sexuality, I think that's a valid topic. Some of Alex's posts in particular have been very enlightening about the way that he has been treated.
You need to take my post in the way intended or as a response to someone who thought there were no gay people on here. Of discussing issues is valid.

I've heard comments shouted by individuals in the past but apart from "the gallowgate end" chant I've never heard any other homophobic chant
I admire Gareth Thomas for coming out and being openly gay but I do think he over plays the homophobic card, just like Sol Campbell over plays the racist card.I'm not denying it exists but these days I think the vast, vast majority don't give a shit.

Never heard any chants at Sunderland. Doesn't O'Shea still get loads of stick from he City fans over some rumours from years ago?

Despite that you still hear "Get up ya puff." Quite often.
