BBC salary day

The irony of the BBC news at 10 reporting the criticisms of the BBC pay salaries and pay gender gaps.
But not pointing out that Claudia and Tess present a seasonal programme, whereas the highest paid individuals either work 6 times a week, every week or are producers as well as presenters or part of massive sports coverage worth huge sums of money.

It's not comparing like with like.

Norton's doesn't include the money to his production company who run The Graham Norton Show btw.

Nothing outlandish in that list tbf, would be interesting to see ITV, Sky and Channel 4's comparative list like.

This.

Robert Peston left the BBC for itv Purely for money, he's admitted as much.

I'm not being funny like but there's a reason why they are paid so much, that is because they bring viewers and listeners to the BBC. They have their jobs for a reason and anyone who thinks the man on the street could do a better job in entertaining 9 million listeners or presenting match of the day, is living in cloud cuckoo land

Not much surpsing

Maybe Chris Evans and Lineker are the odd ones out, I don't get that, too much

Shearer getting paid the seam as Andrew Neil, did I hear that right?

Graham Norton regularly gets A List Hollywood guests on his show, often more than 2 or 3 at once. Worth it.

Compare it to someone male presenting a similar program like that twat with the silly hair on the pottery program.

As I have already said, Peston left the BBC for money, bake off left the BBC for money, so it's not the highest payer.

Thinking about it more. Evans is probably on most of the year. Winkleman is on a quarter of the year so like for like she's on 2 million quid and a bit of a non story.

Does anyone miss Robert Preston or Susanna Reid?
I dont think that the BBC'S ratings have fallen but ITV'S breakfast shows have
You see in my opinion it is the BBC Producers and programme makers and arrangers that make and style the shows not just stumpet trumpet egotist presenters.
When nurses ,bin men and most other working folk are struggling etc with wage caps the BBC as public broadcasters paid by the public purse are totally irresponsible and insensitive.
Even though the BBC would appear to be led by left wing luvvie champange socialists it should be bound by public service pay caps as others are.
You cannot blame Evans,Winkleman and their ilk for takingthe huge salaries offered to them. The blame for this excessive public binge of money must be laid firmly at the door of the board and management of the BBC who must be accountable to us the public at large.
The BBC are quick to blame politicians from all parties of poorly funded public services but they are wasteful and profligate in the excessive salaries paid solely in my opinion because they are scared by the cult of celebrity.
I dont care about names only programme standards

How many of them are guest presenters and 'turns' every children in need day asking some skint granny in Rotherham to donate a chunk of her pension?

...is an uncharitable and possibly narrow perspective on an aspect of this situation

The BBC don't need stars to bring in viewers seeing as we're forced to pay for it.

When Chiles and Bleakley left The One Show they sank like a stone on ITV.
Their replacements are infinitely better and The One Show is still going from strength to strength.
I'm not saying it's the best program in the world, but is a definite example of the BBC being ahead of the game.

Also just thought about when ITV had their own MOTD, "The Premiership" IIRC. Awful.

The list was pretty dull. That Baker bloke is earning good money for what he is mind.

ITV is the Daily Star of TV. They've gone from the South Bank Show to mass celebrity tripe.

Completely agree, I listen to Nicky Campbell every day on the way to work and he is superb.

Imagine being bothered
It's a fact tbh, broadcasters get paid a fortune shock ! Good luck to them.

It's 2017 how many years has the issue of women's equality been on the agenda? Here's the BBC a public institution slapping itself on the back because it would like to achieve equal pay by 2020.

As far as the salary levels are concerned we used to call them news readers or announcers back in the day - they weren't "super stars" because it didn't really take a lot of talent to do what they did. Many are simply journalists who are slightly more articulate than the rest of their number which quite honestly can't be that hard.

But the BBC doesn't have equal pay in any way otherwise there wouldn't be such a discrepancy between the men. It's farcical as it down to supply and demand in the industry - you might as well say why don't Arsenal Ladies get paid as much as the men.

Equal pay patter yet again. Blokes are earning more cos they are on more popular shows, and for a reason. Why should someone get as much, even if they're not as good?

It's frightening how many people in every day life think up and down the land blokes are on higher money for doing exactly the same job, having worked exactly the same amount of time.
