Just as well the likes of Swansea, Bournemouth and Southampton didn't think that way when languishing in Leagues 1 and 2...or Leicester when they sat 5 points and 3 places below us in January 2015.

Why do people continue to find excuses for ineptitude.

because some people can see it goes much much deeper than moyes ffs

So doing something different, ie not the same thing.
Yes. My initial comment was in respect of the 'sack the manager, he is the problem' OP

i.e. Why do some fans want us to repeat the same approach of replacing the football manager (that we've given more than a few attempts recently), as if that will somehow magically address the broader and complete failure of the whole organisation?

You are the architect of your own premonition
Yes we are relegation fodder and absolutely certain to be demoted but Mr Moyes there was no fight under your leadership we surrendered last September.
You offered no optimism,no spirit ,no heart and worst of all no hope
Please do the morally honest action and resign so that even in relegation we can look forward to someone who could provide some hope for the future because you don't even offer the consolation of any aspiration of any inkling of positivity
I doubt he reads this board mate

We've done the same thing to stop up for umpteen seasons. The season we do something different, ie keep the manager we go down.

Your point is bullshit I'm afraid.

Beacause the bloke is an absolute train wreck. Regardless of injuries or the folly real or imagined of previous managers, regardless of mismanagement of the club at the highest level, regardless of our perilous financial position. This man has not given me one single reason to believe that his continued employment as manager of our team will be anything other than an unmitigated disaster.

If you think every season starts afresh with a clean slate* instead of being part of a continuious then you're misguided.

(*obviously I'm not talking about the league table).

We are reaping what we've sown over the last ten years. You've got to think about it in terms of several years, not season to season. That's why the point is not bullshit and I stand by it

What if, for the first time in ten years, the club actually has sensible a 3 or 5 year mid-term plan and a senior management team committed to delivering it?

What's this plan ,in 3-4 years join Hartlepool in non league football ?

Why do people equate not firing Moyes as a need for "stability". What we've needed for a long time is a reprieve from a constant churn of players and managers. We needed a capable manager and a strong core of players. We had that in the last half of last season. Then BSA walked. Then injuries hit. Take a look here http://www.espnfc.us/club/sunderland/366/squad and see how many of our core players have started more than 20 of our 32 games. That's nowhere near stability, but it's what Moyes' had to deal with. Look at the team we put out in the last game against Boro and you'd be depressed about our prospects as well. The point is that Moyes has his flaws but our current situation isn't entirely his fault. I don't know if he is the right manager long-term as I haven't seen what he can do with a full complement of first-teamers (other than our spurt in December). And I suspect that is the position of Short and Bain.
The fossil is finished .

Fair enough, you've got your view. I don't think the same way, but that's just because I don't know enough about what he does or how he is at work (as opposed to doing PR) to conclude that he's a 'train wreck'.

Results are poor as a fan aye; but I honestly think he's been dealt a crap hand and on an objective basis actual performance is broadly in line with expectations.

Did you think we'd be top ten at the start of the season?

I'm sick of going in to each season knowing that it's going to be a grim, arduous struggle relying on an end of season run of form to keep us up. We're in that predicament because the the organisation has been badly run. I wish some rich businessman would whoy £200m in the transfer and wages kitty (although think what a £200m lumper would actually deliver; its not that much ) but they didn't. I think the owner is trying a different strategy and MB/DM are integral to that. So I'm just saying, let's give them a chance and see where we are after three years. It might be the Championship but maybe we'll see a completely different, well-run, stable and optimistic club.

We'll be able to sign some young hungry players

Yeah that's the plan ,buy shite players young or old ,then find a division, in which they are capable of competing.
Probably league one ,looking at the 13 he's brought in so far.
