Managed my first 10k run of the year this morning. I was plagued with injuries last year, but regular sports massage and core strength exercises over the winter seem to be working. I'm also foam rolling just about every night. I've slowed down a bit but honestly don't care as long as I'm running.

I think I need to take a leaf out of your book. I struggled through a ½ Marathon in January & managed a couple of very slow 10 milers but they've been followed by weeks of niggly injuries. I need to get back to just enjoying running again instead of always pushing for the next pb.

I'd been like that for ages and knew what I needed to do about, but wasn't focused enough. I think you realise when you get older that you need to take more care. I'm 40, but guilty of still thinking I'm 18, that's why the hangovers last longer these days. ;)

Beautiful morning in the spring run and got through 35k. First real longish run for 5 months so well happy with that.

Hopefully no reaction in the morning.

Signed up to a local HM this afternoon on a whim that is for tomorrow morning. Did 16km in 1:36 last week so if I equal my HM PB of 2:23 I'll be over the moon, not gone that distance since October though.

Probably be a disaster like but we'll see!

Completed this HM last week, the course was brutal! Did it in 2:24 but felt ok afterwards so I'm taking that as progress considering the number of hills.

Went for a run yesterday on my much flatter route and did 17km in 1:42, so right back into my 2:10 aim for the GNR.

Aiming for marathon in October, so plenty of time to build the miles up. I did 8.6 miles yesterday and the legs were ok enough to do another 3.2 this morning at Ropner park...slow but steady.

Already bricking it about the marathon, but trying to steadily up the number of miles per week.

Plenty time. Put the miles in and you will be fine.

First 'race' of the year yesterday after injury (and 35k the day before). 8.2 miles so ran fairly hard to 4 miles then eased off, stopped for a chat, and then ran the last couple of miles a bit harder. Surprised my legs don't feel worse to be honest so must have some base fitness from somewhere.

Decisions decisions on running spring marathons...

Hopefully be fit for Hartlepool Marina 5 miler, Sunderland ½ Marathon & the Pier to Pier but I've just deferred my place in Meridian 50K as getting up to that sort of distance is going to be a bit of a Gamble in the time left.

surely part of the appeal of ultra running is not knowing if you can do the distance / cut offs. if you know you can you clearly need a stiffer challenge. just give it a bash - don't try you'll never know.

Making the jump from 26.2 miles to 31 miles was a chance I was willing to take but I've been getting injuries after slow 10 milers so far this year so attempting to treble that distance within a 6 week window will most likely see me injured for a lot longer.
