Samsung Galaxy S8

Made the leap from Apple after the 5 and don't regret it. Samsung's screens are really good and it's nice to have a phone that gives you more freedom to install and download what you want.

The screen on the s8+ looks great but not enough change to tempt me from the s7.

I got given a J3 last week (workphone) - absolute pile of shite, couldn't tether & the bluetooth kept disconnecting. They've just replaced it today with an A5 which seems canny enough.

Due an upgrade in 2 months so will be getting one. Had a galaxy s6 and cracked the LCD so had to fork out £200 to get it repaired after a few month, done exactly the same a few month later and thought fuck it I'm not paying that price again so been living off an s4 the past year or so so can't wait. Moral of the story is insure your f***ing phone.

Released on April 28th, looks very impressive, but comes with a hefty price tag - £689 for the S8 & £779 for the S8+. Considering the technology it's packing & the time I spend using my 'phone' I think it's probably worth the asking price. My last phone was a 'cheap' Chinese Flagship phone (Leeco le max 2) Dropped it yesterday & smashed the camera cover, but not too bothered as it was 'only' £170...Not sure how comfortable I'd feel with a 700-800 quid phone in my pocket.

No need for £700 phones these days imo. The Chinese market has some real gems avilable for buttons in comparison.

samsungs are great phones, not flawless though...... you need to have a good cleaner (I'm using super cleaner by hawk app, it's brilliant) also clear cache by switching off, and holding on, home and volume up buttons, then wipe cache partition
their bloat ware is a touch annoying, why don't they just let you delete it for good?

It looks canny, but I haven't had a Samsung since the S2. I've had Nexus phones since then which I've really liked so not sure if I'd move away from one of those. I've still got just over half a year til my contract is up so I'll be seeing if there's any new Google/Nexus phones around. Hopefully the price of the S8 will drop a bit by then as well to make it more tempting

I've always swerved Samsung, Sony and Apple because of the 100% brand tax.

But the S8+ looks really tempting. Proper screen, Aptx, USB 3 and the Dex:

Not so keen on the smallish battery and rear fingerprint sensor though.

I love my s7 , probably the best smart phone I've ever known

What don't you like about it
Size, the edge is just an annoying gimmick, Samsung specific software constantly updating, it does random stuff like opening the camera, the fingerprint sensor is crap. I just can't get away with it.

What is wrong with it. Moved to the edge last year from iPhone and it's been spot on.
See above.

I have the pixel, the rear fingerprint sensor works well.
Its just a personal preference. I've got one on my Oppo too, don't like its position so don't use it.

An S8 reviewer complained of continually hitting the camera when trying to unlock it via the fingerprint sensor, and the S8+ is longer so I can imagine that being worse.

I can't even use the facial recognition feature, as George Clooney could also get access to my data.

Paying that much I'd get a Pixel. You'll get the Android updates first and doesn't come with any bloatware.
